Nice, easy hike if you are looking for a little exercise but not too strenuous. The greenery and flora along the way is lush. The falls are tall and pretty spectacular. Please obey the signs and do not pass the ropes. This is not only dangerous but blocks the view for others. We did this today in a rain storm. It really cut down on the crowds and the trail is so well maintained that it wasn’t muddy or slippery. If you want additional adventure, you can take the Aihualama Trail from the end.

completed this for the 2nd time today. I think I will do this every time I visit. I would not rate it as Hard. It's steep, but not dangerous or technical. Just a lot of steps and a lot of people. You will be in good company though, lots of people stopping along the way. Everyone is pulling for each other and offering words of encouragement. It's a great feeling to reach the top and have a total stranger congratulate you. Do note, there is a bypass to avoid climbing across the exposed gulch. The bypass is very easy and fast. I was able to go the bypass route faster than others negotiated the exposed railroad ties. The views at the top are absolutely amazing. Bring a snack and explore all areas at the top. You wont regret it.

This hike has a HUGE sign posted - NO TRESPASSING. You can legally go on a guided tour of this hike by calling: 808-734-4214. Please be respectful to the land owners by obeying their wishes and only go on this trail legally. I wasn't able to do this hike today, but the gentleman was very accommodating and is making arrangements to take me in the next couple of days. If you MUST do a hike in this area and cant wait, try Koko crater railway hike.

Just did this hike. It was a nice trail, well maintained; about 1/2 was on a road. It was a little rainy today so I didn’t want to deal with anything too slippery. This fit the bill. Only a few slick spots. It was very easy to follow. Not sure how someone could get off track. Lots of wild orchids. The biggest disappointment was that I was hoping for more eye candy. There was only a view of the north shore at the peak and a couple of spots on the return. The forest and gulches were beautiful, but I was hoping for views of the Bonnzai Pipeline. Would need to do the Ehukai pill box hike for that.

Great Trail for a tough workout with payoff at the end of great views. Tough on the knees coming down. I don't do well with heights so I bypassed the rails over the gorge and took the side trail. It was quick and easy. Also, the people opting to stay on the rails were getting stung by bees. I always wanted to do this. Glad I did. The real warriors are the people who do it multiple times at once. A guy passed us 3 times!

This was a great hike. We followed the directions in Oahu Revealed, and used Stuart Ball's book as a reference. We had a lot of rain so the trail had some slick areas. There was a recent land slide with a couple of trees down shortly after leaving Auloa-Ki'ona'ole road and climbing the stone steps. Once getting past the tree it wasn't long before getting to the path that crosses this one at the top of the ridge. Make sure to continue straight. The other tricky spot was identifying the spur trail to the waterfall. We passed a spur trail on the left that led no where. The correct trail looked like a Y, but we could hear the waterfall so tried it. It was more than 100 yards to the fall, but it was amazing. I saw more varied fruit trees, blooming flowers and birds than on any hike I've done in Hawaii.
