It's a nice walk but hardly a hike. Great for little kids, very nice boardwalk.

Nice, bring bug spray! Very easy trail but lots of downed trees in trail path.

Remember moderate in Hawaii may be rated hard at home. Some repairs have been taking place but still needs work. Bring food and lots of water. We were very lucky as it seems we hit all the views with very little fog. Did have rain and it was great to have raincoats. Not much mud in early July. Fun but very tiring for some of us.

Nice views and picnic area at top. Could use a little maintenance, overgrown a bit but still totally passable. Not too muddy the day we went. A nice hike but not the very best.

We did a shortened version of this from the Hawaiian village. Kayaked a short ways to the falls trailhead. Hike to falls is quite easy with a few tricky places. After that went to the fern grotto which was pretty. A restroom is available at the fern grotto. The Hawaiian village was a really nice small attraction. Really interesting to us because most fruit trees were represented, and our daughter was able to feed tons of chickens and some gorgeous peacocks. Staff at the village were exceptionally laid back and helpful. This was one of my favorite days because you got a little bit of everything. Learned about some Hawaiian culture as well.

Super fun, lots of pools, saw giant sea turtles from shore, as well as a seal. Easy hike, a little hard on the knees, would be harder if muddy. Lots of reckless behavior on the rocks. Tourists really shouldn't assume they can do as the athletic local teenagers.

I won't downgrade this amazing trail's rating because I happen to be 52 and overweight. It completely kicked my ass, and my husband's as well. Anyone with remotely bad knees needs a walking stick. Big knee problems? Stay away. I'm lucky I made it out of this alive. I'm kind of kidding but not really. The moderate rating would only apply to the most experienced hiker. Our kids did fine. Please do not bring a baby on your back for this hike. I know you might be strong, but there are many opportunities to slip. It's just stupid. We all had camelbacks and a water bottle. My husband and wish we had packed an additional bottle. Most of the hike back from the beach is brutal and in scorching sun. Bottom line: if you are young, don't worry but pack smart. If you are older and have substantial health problems, you might want to sit this one out or just go to the beach and back. Overall it's an amazing hike, varied terrain (bamboo forest, waterfall, beach, coastal views.)

This is a beautifully planned trail. A great choice for a day of rest between harder hikes. Lovely scenes, different at every turn with some fun surprises. Waterfall/dam area very cool, manicured garden, gorgeous flowers. Different than all of the other trails. Relax and enjoy. You must sign in at the mini golf. Charming guy works there, great info.

Nice and very large beach, good waves for swimming. While it is a short trail, the easy rating is somewhat misleading. It's fairly steep returning, and could cause problems for someone with knee issues, or who is out of shape. Pack lightly to go to this beach, I learned the hard way!

Beautiful trail with gorgeous forest of enormous Norfolk Pines. Fairly steep but not too bad, nice place to picnic at top with several different views of the island.

Lovely trail, steadily steep for quite a while, semi-torturous. Beautiful views. If you want to get to the bench: at power line, face back towards the trail you came in on, and take the main trail to the right. It's about 20 more minutes. Really nice up there.

This is a really nice trail. Not as difficult as rated, but it would definitely be difficult for some, especially those with knee issues. I'm 50 and have lots of hiking experience, but no athlete either. Personally, I loved it because right when it would get really hard for a few minutes, there would be a nice flat area. Sort of like interval training, I guess. Was with my teens who had no trouble at all and to them I'm sure it was pretty easy. I'd recommend going clockwise and enjoy the waterfalls at the end. It would be pretty boring at the end in the reverse direction.

The only other thing is that you will probably get your feet wet, especially if there has been a lot of rain recently. It was avoidable the day we hiked, but I could see this trail can be messy after a rain.
