Finally made up to the top of this trail. It’s a beautiful time to go up with so many wild flowers and trees right now and the higher you get the better the scenery. We went about a quarter mile past the trail sign up top to the lookout but the ocean view was clouded over.

Fun for the whole family hike! Do your research so you know where to find the trailhead and use the gps map here because things are not well marked and there are lots of off shoot trails to get lost on. The ladders and slot canyons are super fun!

Really beautiful trail this time of year! So many wild flowers and lots of water crossings and little waterfalls. Really fun one for kids!

Do yourself a favor and get a trail map of the area at the ranger station or download one before you come because the trails are not marked well. $10 entrance fee to the state park. Beautiful area though. Not a lot of people right now and great weather! Scott’s cabin is basically non existent right now. Looks like a pile of logs (maybe they are getting ready to rebuild it??)

The trail is super muddy and slippery right now. I would not go without hiking boots and walking stick or trekking poles. I would have fallen several times without those things

Went cactus to tram and left at 2am. Got to tram about 10:40. Got lost once. Thank goodness for all trails gps to get us back on track. Read the hiking guys directions and have his landmark pictures ready. Easy to get lost in the dark. Had 6L of water and used all of them. Absolutely hardest hike I’ve done. You are climbing for 8 hours straight and the first mile and last 2 are brutal. Make sure you are properly fueled before you go. I crashed a bit in the first mile because I had nothing before we left. The valley is a beautiful sight when you get there!! Good luck!

This was a super fun trail with lots of river crossings. We were surprised at how much water was there at the end of summer. My 8 year old was a champ it made it past the bridge to some fun swimming holes. We took about 4-5L of water each and some food and we were good! Took about 3 hours to the bridge. Clocked around 11 miles total. We followed “the hiking guys” step by step trail photos and that was super helpful because it is not well marked.

My favorite hike so far!! Staying at Ponderosa Ranch was a must because we were already more than halfway to Chamberlin’s. We were able to book a shuttle with them for 5:30am. The Whole top down hike in one day took us a little under 10 hours and I clocked in 20 total miles due to the cross crossing and rock scrambling that you do in the river. The first 8-10 miles we saw no one and then after Big Springs more and more people until it got kinda crazy. I went through 5 liters of water even though it was not that hot yet. Water level was pretty low which made the hike easier. Will definitely do it again!

Amazing area! My only complaint: this is the most poorly marked trail that I have ever been on. Do your research so you know where to go. There are several trails at the top and a lot of them are dead ends. Otherwise, great day of hiking and exploring with my husband and 7 year old. Bring more water than you think you need!!!

Super easy family friendly hike. The narrow 5 mile road that you take there takes longer than the actual hike. A little bit of water at the falls now. The rocks up there are super slippery so watch your lils! Fun river area to explore as well. The bits of graffiti and trash we saw were a bummer! Oh, and lots of poison oak right now!

This was probably my sons favorite trail as there were so many cool rock formations to climb. To get the full loop you hike into Jumbo Rocks campground and head toward the main road. You catch the last part of the loop on the opposite side of the road. Don’t miss this part of the loop! It’s super cool terrain!

Great kid friendly trail but easy to get lost if you get off the trail. There is an old building and rusted out car towards the beginning of the trail but you have to go off trail to see it. Just make sure you get back on the main trail after you go see it. Two other rusted out cars near the mill. Super cool and fun for kids.

Beautiful trail. Took us about 5 hours round trip. The climb is gradual and not too steep. We lucked out with cloud cover and stayed cool the whole time. Lots of hikers on the trail on a Saturday. Great 360 views at the top. Worst part was the walk up the ramp to the tram after. 12 miles total
