Great trail you can hike or bike. I hiked it in several sections and enjoyed it that way so I could take the time and check out the views and the surroundings. The wild flowers in mid summer made it very nice and colorful. Parts of the trail had a lot of down fall this year because of all the moisture. There was some snow still on the north faces which we weren't expecting but we made it through. I loved the views of Zion and seeing the red hoo-doos along the way as the trail gets close to the edge then it works it's way back into the forest. Very enjoyable.

A rock scrambling hike up a small creek with little water flow at times. But when it rains this ting creek can rage into a roaring river. As you boulder jump back and forth heading up Coal pits the small little canyon gets a little greener and some hanging gardens start to pop out under the shelves of the banks, A small little slick rock water fall is a great place to camp and enjoy the sounds of the creek. A lot of the junipers were burned during a wildfire years ago. The trail from here has two options. Continue up stream to the oil well or go left on the Chinile trail and continue over to the Petrified forest. From there you can either back track or go down Scoggins wash or Huber. You can continue down the Chinle and end up on Anasazi Plateau near Rockville, Bring plenty of water in the summer. It can get rather muddy in the winter and during the monsoons.

A great sandy hike up a wash ending for some at a dry fall where an ancient petrified log jam awaits. If you wander up a little further with a scramble up the left of the wash from the dry fall you can meet up with Chinle trail and venture to Coal Pits Wash or go down Scoggins. On top is the petrified forest. When you do hike this make sure you look for all the petrified wood trapped in the walls of the wash and then some.

If you want a calf burning trail this is a must! The trail is up, up, and up. A very strenuous hike all the way to the top. It starts in the junipers and sagebrush and gradually works up to the pinion pines. Once you reach the halfway mark the trail get interesting, large Ponderosa pines emerge and things get greener. This mountain was heavily logged in the 1800's and early 1900's so seeing these majestic trees is a real treat. Winding up through the large granite the trail tops out again a beautiful meadow lined with Aspen trees. Continuing further up the granite become larger and little seeps of springs are coming through. Out on the rim before the final ascent you can look for miles and miles. Beautiful variety of plants and trees are abundant. The wild Cliffrose is one of Pine Valleys treasures. It takes quite some time to reach the top but well worth the hike. Not for a first time hiker or young ones. The descent down is knee pounding.

So many options to getting there. The views are outstanding. You can look down on Angels Landing and see the switchbacks to Observation point. The old draw works are still standing and looks to of had some restoration. I can't wait to go back in the spring when all the leaves are on and the wildflowers blooming. I will do this hike more often. Didn't see any other hikers at all on the trail.

I love this place. So much to see and explore. I really liked seeing all the agave plants. I enjoyed this hike with my dogs. Been several times and always find something new to see. The formations are very unique.

Hiked it again last week and it is still beautiful in the Winter as it is in the Spring. I can't wait to go again and look forward to next fall to take that opportunity to see the brilliant colors. Wonderful place to take kids exploring.
