Climbed to Cat Mountain summit via the red trail from Edgecomb Pond, which is shorter than the blue trail but with some very steep spots. A solid moderate hike, we logged 4.3 miles round trip in about 2 hours. The view from atop Cat is one of the best of Lake George.

Nice walk in the woods and fields near Lake Champlain and its tributary, the Poultney River. Generally easy with some moderate climbing and rocky terrain. There are no views at the top, to get views either take Tim’s Trail in the same preserve or bushwack off trail to Bald Mountain to the north.

Nicely laid out trail system, most are easy except for one spur that is moderate with some scrambling and elevation gain. We walked about 3 miles in all by taking the main loop and some of the side trails. No great views from the elevated area. Plenty of signs with maps at trail intersections. Overall a good place for beginners and kids.

The most picturesque parts of this trail are in Fort Edward at the Five Combines Park and east as the feeder Canal meets the Champlain Canal. This area is good for bird watching, walking and biking.

The reviews about trail markers are accurate. This trail needs some help. However, it is not an LGLC trail system as one reviewer wrote, it is the state DEC. This is a hard hike, best done over three days to enjoy the views.

Nice, easy to moderate hike, with two ways to the top that can be done as a loop. One trail, which heads south from the kiosk, is much easier with switchbacks. The main route is steeper but shorter. The view at the top is very nice, with Lake St, Catherine in the foreground and the southern Adirondacks to the west. There is a platform at the top for camping. Across Endless Brook Road is another trail system for hiking and mountain bike riding maintained by Slate Valley Trails, with some more nice views.

The full loop to the lake view, around the rookery and to the ridge was about 3.5 miles. The red trail is steep at the end. Took us about 2 hours, stopping to take a bunch of pictures.

There is no marked trail to the top, though there are some orange ribbons on trees. Herd path trail is accessible from the northwest corner of Rogers Rock state campground. It is also a steep bushwack if you choose that route. Nice views from the top, about 2.4miles round trip.

Lots of snow at the overlook on 3/11/18, trail was in good shape, no major winter blowdown,

Nice short walk in the woods, with one brief climb at the beginning. The marked town trails connect to an unmarked system that goes onto Glens Falls watershed property around Butler Storage Reservoir, and lead to a nice climb to an overlook known as “The Rock” off the north end of the loop. This trail system is fairly heavily used on weekends.

This is not a marked trail and can be confusing if you aren’t experienced at following gps. As others wrote, you start in the LGLC parking lot, on the trail to Berry Pond Preserve. Keep bearing right along the stream. It can get sketchy once you leave the stream, as there are logging trails that intersect.

Easy walk, as prior reviewers said. If you are doing the fire tower challenge, it is the easiest trip. Nice view of the High Peaks to the west and a bit of Lake Champlain to the east

The trail to the top of Black Mountain is heavily used and well-marked. The views from the top are awesome, The loop down to the ponds is wet in places but the ponds are nice. Carry a map and you won’t get confused by the side trails and intersections on trails that lead to other ponds.

Nice, easy hike around a picturesque pond. Make sure you go to the rock overlook on the pond’s west end. Bushwhack to the north and meet up with end of the trail on the north side. The whole loop is slightly over 3.5 miles with a few hundred feet of elevation gain.

Very nice, easy walk to a beautiful little pond. Toughest part is the drive on a beat up road. Out and back is 3.4 miles total, just a few slight inclines on the way there. The pond is a favorite of local trout fishermen. There is also a nice campsite at the end of the trail.

Beautiful, crystal clear pond, hike in is nice. You can drive in to trailhead with a vehicle that has all-wheel drive and some clearance, if you want to go to Crane Pond this way, be advised the road was flooded just past Alder Pond as of 9/13.
