Very short but one of my absolute favorite places to go. It's not really a trail, more like a road, but it's a beautiful hike. Park at the gate, and follow the road 1.6 miles to the stonehouse. You will pass a wetlands area with hundreds of birds chirping, and the creek running. The stonehouse is an awesome spot to sit and relax and just enjoy the beautiful views and maybe picnic.

Beautiful 2.2 mile hike in Joshua Tree National Park. Trail is easy and runs thru, open desert, beautiful rock formations and under some nicely shaded pines. There are tons of birds and lizards. Take the side trail to Face Rock, it's only about .2 miles off the main trail and it is totally worth the extra few minutes. Took my 8yr old son and he had a wonderful time.

Beautiful views on this hike. Trail is rather flat and suitable for all skill levels. The rock formations, pines and valleys are wonderful. The trail ends about 1.6 miles in at a sign that states the trail is not maintained past that point. This is an excellent spot to sit and relax under a pine or in a rock and just enjoy the solitude. If you like peace and quiet this is definitely a must do.

Trail is actually only about 2.5 miles out and back. Lots of cool things to see here. Old mining equipment and lots of mine shafts. The trail is full of loose rocks so be very careful. Good for all skill levels. I wouldn't mind doing it again when I have more time to explore.

Took the loop clockwise which I think would be the ideal way to go for some people. The trail is moderately strenuous due to the rapid elevation gain. Although I'm sure it is worse going counterclockwise. The first 3.5-4 miles are moderate. After that the trail becomes rather flat and extremely easy. It's marked very well and the views just east of the mine is absolutely spectacular. I will definitely be doing this again.

Though this is a very easy hike and extremely short, it as absolutely amazing for photography. Surrounded by beautiful rock formations, tall green trees, and many Joshua trees. The temperature dropped about 10-15 degrees easily. We took the trail counter clockwise and it was awesome.

This is a very easy hike that shows some amazing rock formations and some beauty of Joshua tree national park. The trail head starts in the middle of Jumbo rocks campground and go to skull rock, cross the road and continue on the loop back to the road at the main entrance to jumbo rocks. Took my 6 & 8 year olds and they loved it. Lots of birds, butterfly's, bees, flowers and lizards.

Great hike. From the parking lot to the base of the crater is mostly flat, and sandy, but you do walk thru some small lava rock piles which are pretty cool to explore. Once you get to the base of the crater, the trail gets pretty steep to the rim. The trail goes all the way around the rim and there are a few into the bottom of the crater. Nice views of the Twentynine Palms Marine Base and the old town of Amboy. If you do this during summer, take plenty of water. Even in cooler weather, it gets pretty hot when the sun is blazing on the black lava rocks.

Heard this was easy, but WOW easy is not the word. I've hard harder walks to the mailbox. The trailhead says it's .5 miles which I don't think it is, maybe .25. Although it is very short and beyond easy, the arch is beautiful and lots a picture taking opportunities. A definite must see.

Went back and did the Canyon Trail which is a 9 mile out and back. The hike was fairly easy but the trail had been washed out from recent rainstorms. Check weather reports before you do this hike as it is in a wash 90% of the way and flash floods are frequent. We saw Big Horn Sheep and snakes. Lots of birds.
