Truly Blessed reviewed Puma Trail to Native Oak Trail via Ahwingha Trail

I’d say this was a pretty good trail that’s just the right distance for a quick cardio workout. I liked that the trail wasn’t straight up then straight down, but rather up and down, up and down throughout. Signs were clear as well. The Puma trail is very narrow, so be careful, but it’s free from the mountain bikers that fly down.

This hike is full of steps 1.5 miles up! Once you get to the top there’s an elevation sign perfect for a photo opp. It gives you a good workout, but is not too strenuous. Highly recommended!

This is a good hike for those who enjoy a little bit of a challenge as a lot of the trail is steep and narrow. The dawn mine itself was quite disappointing as you can’t see anything but steel bars with a small canon out front. The trail is NOT obvious and you need to pay attention if you don’t want to get lost. Signs were available when you didn’t need it and absent when you did. The lot at the trail head is super small, but there is a bigger lot a mile down at Millard Canyon.

The waterfall is minuscule this time of year. The trail offers a lot of shade and is moderately challenging. Some parts of the trail was super narrow. You need an adventure pass to park. If you get carsick easily, beware. The road is quite windy to get to the trailhead.

Parking is easy and free. Light traffic. No shade, so be smarter than I was and go hiking as early as possible during the scorching heat months. Super steep climb the entire time until you get to the top.

4 miles up and 4 miles down with a ton of switchbacks along the way. Definitely start early on hot days. We made the mistake of getting to Zion at 12:30pm on a Saturday and had to pay an additional $22 to park at Springdale. Take the shuttle to stop 7 (takes an additional 30 mins). Getting through the East entrance to the visitors center to the trailhead took about 1.5-2hrs one way. The hike up is a steady incline. Back down is a bit tough on the legs. Terrain changes throughout the trail. Took us 2 hours up and 1 hr down, but we are in pretty good shape. The park suggests 6 hours for the hike.

This was an easy breezy hike with some amazing views of the hoodoos. The trail breaks off to other trails with clear signs all along the way. You hike down first and then back up.

This was beautiful hike with luscious views and a little bit of rain. So different from the dry LA trails that I am used to. It was a steep enough climb for a bit of a challenge and the reward was Pittock Mansion and a gorgeous view of Portland. You also pass by a stone house which is a picturesque spot. I recommend this trail especially if you’re a trail runner!

I don’t know why it says dogs on leash are okay..:when you get to the end of the trail at Temescal Canyon Rd, there are signs that say no dogs allowed. The trail was nice until the last 3 miles where it was all down hill. What goes up must come down, I guess!

I’m not sure which trail I took, but it wasn’t 5.8 miles. I only got 4.3 miles in. Parked on the residential streets to save $5 on parking. Some parts of the trail are narrow, but the hike overall was easy peasy.

Lots of horse poop on this trail and not a lot of shade. There’s also not a lot of parking.

This is a pretty straightforward hike. Parking sucks unless you get there between 6-7am and requires a parking pass. My favorite part of the hike is toward the top where you’re surrounded by greenery everywhere. Hardly feels like you’re in LA.

See and be seen here. Best part about this trail is all the doggies running around free as a bird! Worst parts are that it is hardly challenging and parking is a pain in the booty. The more difficult side is a steep climb up to the top, but the trail down is almost double the distance which is not helpful when you want to burn more calories.

Pretty easy hike with the exception of a short steep climb toward the peak. Don’t cross the bridge...it’s not part of the trail. Great views at the top. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. Downtown Sierra Madre is around the corner for brunch or coffee right after your hike!

Truly Blessed reviewed Henninger Flats Trail

Hmm...I only clock about 6 miles up to Henninger based on where I start I’m assuming. Not much scenery and no shade. If you want to build your tolerance of going up hill, I’d recommend this hike. Otherwise, there are other hikes that have a lot more going on (optically).

Not a bad hike...it’s pretty neat at the top seeing the historical sites and the trail is easy to follow. Feeling extra active? Continue on up to Inspiration Point! No restroom along the trail though, so plan ahead!

The signs weren’t super clear (at least to us) and we ended up walking 5 extra miles for a total of 14, lol. Make sure you bring enough water since it is a long hike. The top is beautiful and hiking shoes are recommended for the downhill because it can be a little slippery.

Truly Blessed reviewed Towsley Canyon Loop Trail

I’d consider this more of a moderate trail about 5 miles total, but then again I’m pretty active. This is a great trail for mountain biking as well and is a gradual climb. As you get to the top, there are quite a few dead trees which make for great photo ops. Didn’t see much from a tar pit geothermal perspective, though. Great for dogs too, though sometimes the path gets pretty narrow. You can’t get lost. It’s an easy loop!
