I've only walked the San Andreas Trail portion from its start at San Bruno Ave @Skyline to the Trousdale/280 exit in Millbrae. That's a little over 5 miles roundtrip. Mostly flat & paved, it's an easy walk with a beautiful view to the west (the reservoir). The drawback is the incessant, loud traffic noise from 280. And no dogs allowed so I can't bring my best friend. There isn't anywhere to picnic on this stretch & only one place to sit, but this trail is all about exercise.

My favorite walk: beautiful scenery at all times of the year, nice people, dog friendly location. A great spot for whale-watching Sept-Oct; you can see other wildlife such as brush rabbits & pelicans throughout the year. For an older, novice hiker like myself, it offers do-able challenges of some hills but there are easy flat places as well. Parking is limited on really nice days.
