Feels like you are hiking in Scotland but drier. The views are spectacular in every direction. Mountain goat herds looked like little puffs in the distance on the cliffs. Bush wacked from Poison creek.

Hiked this peak from the Farmington Flats side. Excellent views as you hike along the saddle looking into the Morgan Valley. Looked to be rarely climbed. Didn't see another person the entire hike.

Nice diversion and a very short & easy walk to excellent petroglyphs.

Nice hike for all abilities if the weather is not too hot. If it's summertime be sure to take 2-3 liter of water with you just to be safe. The temperature was EXTREME (115 F) this weekend and you could have cooked steak on the rocks. Beautiful golden pics at sunset!

Hiking this trail for the second time in late June and it was a scorcher (110 F) by mid day. All of us brought 5 liter of water each and nearly drank it all. I would not recommend leaving this trail head for the peak after 7-8 am due to the high danger of heat stroke. That said, beautiful views from the top!!

Some of the most beautiful terrain in the United States in my opinion. Took the Jenny Lake boat to shave off some miles. The last 2-3 miles were in pretty deep snow (early June) and we post holed quite a few times, but wasn't too bad. Everyone on the trail had bear spray, but didn't see any bears. :(

Excellent trails for all ages and abilities. You can do as much of the loop as you are comfortable with. The mountain side of the loop has some moderate elevation gain but is a beautiful walk. Bring bear spray as a precaution.

Shawn Stephens reviewed Sevier County - Fish Lake Hightop

The Sevier county highpoint is Fish Lake Hightop. The high point is just north of the popular, and aptly named, Fish Lake. The most commonly hiked route to the summit is via Pelican Canyon, from near the lake. The Pelican Canyon route is about 8.5 miles and 2500' of gain to reach the summit. A much shorter approach is via Hancock Flat, and is the route described here. Using this route shortens the hike to about 7 or 7.5 miles and an easier 1100' of gain. Those with ATV's or jeep skills can drive to less than a mile and a couple of hundred feet of the summit.

Fish Lake Hightop is similar to the Aquarius Plateau to the south. Once on top, it is a gently rolling, remarkably flat plain at 11,000'. The area is stunning in the fall when the leaves begin to change, but a good hike from spring through fall. The road to the trailhead should be accessible by most all vehicles. Even though most of the hike is on a 4x4 road, it is infrequently traveled and still offers a great day out.

Hiked this great trail in Mid August...HOT!!!!..104 F when we arrived back to the trail head. Brought a ton of water and wore a hat, so it wasn't too bad. If you get out early (which we didn't) the steepest portion is in the shade. Bring poles and wear gloves since we ended up using our hands more than normal on the descent down the mountain. You can choose your own adventure in the steep section...scrambling abounds depending on the line you take. Great side trip while in Vegas!
