Beautiful scenery! There are some very rocky areas. There are also some areas with looser soil. I’d recommend trail shoes at minimum to aid with grip. Layers are a must. It was a cool day, but worked up a sweat climbing. On the way back needed the hoodies to stay warm. I wouldn’t want to attempt this trail in temps over 70. We used trekking poles for the hike. While not necessary for lots of stretches, we found the poles very helpful on some steeper areas and for water crossings.
For the first water crossing, take the trail to the left from the parking area right away to use the metal bridge. The wide trail marked closest to the restroom at the start leads to some pretty strong rushing water. Perhaps later in the season it’s not as bad?

Enjoyable for casual walker/hiker. Can stay lower and wander. I’d bring poles for steeper areas. No shade so sun protection is a must. Enjoyed watching wild horses grazing to the South.
