    Shane Kenyon Pro-red@3x

    Canandaigua, New York

I'm totally into getting out in the woods all 4 seasons. I love to ice-climb and rock-climb. hiking, fishing, camping, mountaineering, yoga, gardening, painting and reading poetry. Anything to get in touch with nature and the Great Mystery, the Tao, the Wakan Tanka.

I'm married with 2 young ones - one in college and one nearly there.

I do software stuff. I work at CooperVision managing the global development team there, did a long stint at Xerox and have done various entrepreneurial things mostly around web & e-commerce. As it turns out, I've gotten really good at it.

I'm a PMP since 2006. I have had strong success implementing the scrum development model. Great software design and architecture using modern tools & best practices is a personal passion and I'm particularly partial to the .NET MVC4 framework.

I'm an environmentalist. I will become decent at surfing, acoustic guitar, painting, signing and gardening.

Interesting and a lot more challenging than I expected. I took the left branch (North) up the hill and went off-trail a bit to check out the large gully. Then followed the blue blazes south along the ridge-line, and again went off-trail into the pines near the southern gully. I picked up the trail that leads down the hill next to the southern gully which was very good but steep. The bottom of the hill was problematic however, because the trail markers are tied to small trees and shrubs and at some point they are just gone due to blow down. I ended up in a ton of brambles and blackberry bushes with no blaze to be seen, so I went back up to the woods and traversed along just above the brambles in the valley till I intersected back onto the first trail leading out of the parking area. Very muddy today due to snow melt, and the soil was super saturated, like wet oatmeal, so that added to the challenge. My dog seemed more tired than when we did Mt Haystack as a day hike (20 miles)!

The trail here is not great mostly because it is completely surrounded by private land. However, the gorge is impressive as are the falls. Worth a quick stop off to check out as there are many other great falls in the area to see as well.
