this hike gives you a good workout. the first part is harder with elevation gain and the second part might be challenging if you have altitude sickness.
The view on the top is worth the hike, which can be achieved by driving to the top as well. overall the hike is more of a workout than enjoyment as you are 100% exposed to sun and the cold wind.

Very interesting to see green sand, and yes it is really green. But you actually don't have to walk all 3 miles, the sand starts getting green way before that but the big green beach is 3 miles.

The road to the beach is extremely rough so consider well whether to take your car. Some locals also offer to take you there. We dont know how much they charge.

Very interesting to see this lava tube as it is free of charge compared to other lava tube visits that charge $25 pp. We believe this was sufficient to explore a lava tube and we went all the way to the far end which was interesting.

This was a quite fun walk. First you have to find your way through a bamboo maze. Always keep to the left there. Than you get to the first waterfall but you should definitely make it to the second one as that one is a lot more private and cute.

This trail is something very different! Very special terrain that I have never seen before. Looks like your walking on the moon. The trail is a little challenging due to 100% exposure to sun. Make sure you bring plenty of water and good sun protection!

We did this trail a little different as it had been suggested to us by the ranger at the visitor center. The best option to do this trail is to park your car at the car park after the first visitor center and take a hitchhike ride up to the second visitor center. This is a common practice in the national park and there is a designated hiker pickup point right at the car park. We got a ride within 5 minutes. From the second visitor center you can walk down the crater. After that it's mostly flat. At the end there is 2000ft of elevation along 3 miles.
Hiking the trail this way makes it 11 miles instead of 8 but you don't have to go back and forth and can see so much. Also, doing it this way means hiking downhill or on flat terrain for 8miles and only 3 miles at the end uphill.

This trail has everything you do not want in a trail: 100% exposure to sun, non-special trail, non-interesting views. Only interesting thing that we experienced on the trail was walking in the clouds.

This hike was really enjoyable. The first part of the hike is not all that spectacular but the second parts gets really interesting and the view at the end is simply breathtaking. We did a very interesting option which is to take the 2 mile connection trail to the Awa'awapuhi trail. Dont be surprised if the trail is unmaintaned at the beginning. Taking both trails allows you to make a 11 mile loop trail which takes about 6 hours. The views at Nu'alolo cliff trail are more impressive but Awa'awapuhi should still not be missed. Either you can park two cars at both trail heads or walk along the road back to the original car park.

enjoyable hike, however more so for the forest hike and than the view. it was interesting to see how the hill and soil is being held by the roots of the trees. the views are not that impressive. make sure to continue hiking after the viewpoint with the rope and bench because it is the most interesting part but also very slippery and muddy.

we do not consider that is a hard trail, except that it is muddy.

Very enjoyable hike. Right balance between exercise and view. We found the view of the canyon very impressive and liked the two cute, private waterfalls very much. Our advice, start really early and see the day come upon the valley.

there are a lot of sections on this trail. we did the miners section which had about 830 steps and around a mile long hike to get to these steps. going down one can see the remains of the mines and the mining town.
was very interesting and a good workout.

It's an ok trail with some good views of the river. one can enjoy a picnic, but going up the hill is no joy. the trail ends at one point, but we tried to go further to check the cliff which one person had posted, but we gave up after about 20 min of walk. there is hardly any visible trail and thick vegetation makes it hard.
