This is one of my go to hikes while in the Columbus area. It's a very simple but beautiful trail. It's not too strenuous to take my son and dog along with me. The only downside is having to dodge horse poo towards the end of the trail.

I found this trail on my way to Savannah, and was pleasantly surprised at this gem of a trail. When you first park and make your way to the trail, you'll want to watch out for bat poo! There's a bat house built between the parking and the trail head. There are a lot of tree roots across the trail, so if you're as graceful as I am, you may want to start slow. Palmetto lines the trail which makes for some beautiful shots, but my favorite part are the trees that reach over the edge of the riverbed. The sound of the rapids is very relaxing and there are nice lookout areas to rest for a bit before heading back to the trail head.

This park has always been well maintained when we visit. The different trails are well marked. The bathrooms are very clean. We had a standoff with a snake on one of the boardwalks, but that's about the only run in we've had with any wildlife out there. There's a bicycle rental shop right up the road from the park entrance with very reasonable prices if you're interested in checking out the packed limestone trail on the perimeter of the park as well.

This is one of my favorite places close to home. It's very peaceful and the views are gorgeous. The rangers are so friendly and helpful. It's a very short trail, but the powdery white sand and palmetto groves are hard to resist! If you enjoy barefoot hikes, you will love this one.

Great hiking! The water levels were very high, so unfortunately parts of the trail closest to the river were taped off and unavailable. Beautiful views and fun educational bits along the trail make this a great trail for little ones.

If you want gorgeous views for little effort, this place has your name written all over it. Wear clothes/shoes you won't mind getting wet. I recommend getting there right after they open the trails because it was very busy while I was there and difficult to get a decent shot without a duck face or selfie stick in the background.

Sarah Staley reviewed Odum Point High Falls Loop Trail

I just happened to stumble across HighFalls while heading to Cheaha, and I am so glad I did. I enjoyed a bit of rock climbing before making my way to the falls, each climb took me to an even more beautiful view. I climbed across a fallen tree that stretched out in front of one of the falls and jumped right in. I didn't do the entire loop though. I just hiked to the highest falls and then turned around to come back the same way. This ended up being my favorite stop on my trip through Talladega National Forest. I would definitely wait on this one until after significant rain though. It's my understanding that the experience can differ significantly depending on the flow of the waterfalls.

Beautiful trail! I was lucky enough to experience this area a weekend after heavy rainfall to the north so the falls were phenomenal.
