Sarah Shelmidine reviewed Big Slide Mountain via The Brothers

One of my favorite hikes for the simple fact you can see amazing views so early and often. Took our time, about 7 hours round trip. But we weren't rushing. Nothing too crazy mud wise, just walk through it and you'll be fine. Steep on the way up to the brothers, but it fairly steady after until the last part - which is steep. Saw some harmless snakes that still gave me chills, but great hike and recommended highly! My gps had us about 9.4 miles RT via the Brothers.

Sarah Shelmidine reviewed Huckleberry-Moon- Wolf Lakes Loop

First part of loop is beautiful, there were a few downed trees. After passing the second lake, we did not take the trail to Wolf Lake, but it is clearly marked. We kept on the path back to the starting point, but this part of trail was not well marked. Much of the trail was underwater for good stretches, due to beaver dams. (Which was a still a neat site) There were a lot of ticks - be prepared for that. The trail was not too hard to get back on too, but wasn't the easiest.

Sarah Shelmidine reviewed Cascade to Porter Mountain Trail

Great and relatively easy hike, trail to Porter was extremely muddy, but it had just rained the day before, so you just deal with it. Cascade had far better views with a huge bald summit, but Porter is worth the trek while you are there.

Sarah Shelmidine reviewed Koko Crater Trail

Went here right after diamond head. Started right before 830 AM, took me about 1:45 to complete the entire trail. Worth the hike up, views were amazing. It's okay to go slow - I was passed by many, but as long as you are physically fit, you will make it! I took many breaks, drank lots of water. I'm not used to hiking in this type of heat! Took an hour to get to the top, only 35 to get down. Wear good shoes - I didn't pack my actual hiking shoes, only sneakers, and my ankles wished I had.
