amazing hike! Pretty much had the trail to ourselves all day yesterday. Definitely a more "technical" hike once you get to the chimney. The first part of the trail is relatively easy, slight incline moving your way up. The chimney requires some good footing but isn't impossible. Continue on until you reach the chain link which was a lot of fun, just be confident and you'll be fine! The views from the top cannot be beat and the first lookoff also gives you some awesome pics. This took us around 5.5 hours to complete however melting snow and ice made it quite slippery so we took our time. Could do in around 4-4.5 in the summer.

Sarah Marie reviewed Windtower Trail via West Wind Pass

This hike definitely lives up to it's name, it is going to be windy no matter what. However, the summit gives you some of the best views of the rockies. It was incredible! The day we completed the hike it was SO windy and cold, easily felt like -10 to -15 with the wind chill. I've done many "hard" hikes and given that this was rated "moderate" I wasn't expecting it to be so challenging. However I think the elements and my lagging fatigue from the previous days hike led it to feel more difficult. This trail closes December 1 for wildlife preservation so if you are looking for a challenging fall/winter hike I would recommend this one before then. I will definitely be back in the summer.

Sarah Marie reviewed Sentinel Pass via Larch Valley Trail

completed this hike on Sunday, October 8. Decided to head to Moraine Lake very early to make sure we got parking so we were at the lake by 6:45 am and the parking lot was already half full. We started our hike right around 8:00 am and were pretty much the only people on the trail, a few coming down from Larch Valley. The hike to Larch Valley I would consider easy, it took us just over an hour to reach. The ascent to Sentinel Pass took a bit longer mainly due to the snow, roughly 1.5 ft in parts. I would recommend crampons and poles for sure for the pass, and for the way down. So many hikers were not prepared for the descent and were slipping and sliding on their way down. Crampons were a life saver. By the time we were descending the trail was SO busy and I would never do this later than an 8:00 am start time. Overall the hike to Sentinel Pass I would rate more as a moderate hike compared to some others I've done but the views are absolutely incredible and I will definitely do this again.

Beautiful hike, lots of good elevation right from the get go to get the heart rate up. Couldn’t do the ridge walk unfortunately due to incoming winds and the drop in temp plus the snow but will definitely be back in the summer!

Sarah Marie reviewed Johnston Canyon to Ink Pots

While the Johnston Canyon hike is definitely scenic, the sheer volume of people tends to turn me away from it. However yesterday we decided to make our way through the crowds and head to the ink pots for the first time. After the second falls it was like a whole new trail, very few people, good rolling hills to give you just enough of a workout. While the ink pots aren't as exciting as a mountain summit, they are still very neat to see and the surrounding landscape is gorgeous. Overall it ended up being around 12 km and very enjoyable for a leisurely hike.

One of the harder hikes i've done, but definitely worth it. We ended up on a day that was SUPER windy so I think that contributed to the additional fatigue. Great views of Canmore and Ha Ling. Saw around 20-30 other people. Took around 4 hours with some minimal breaks. Would like to try and get to some of the other peaks of Rundle next time.Other reviews are pretty accurate, you do have a lot of climbing and lots of scree at the top, poles and good boots are a must.

Really diverse hike, lots of different types of scenery along the way! I would rate this hike more as moderate. The main trail all is fairly steady with a small incline. The final ascent is where it gets tougher, but not impossible. Unfortunately the waterfall area and river was completely dried up so we will definitely be doing this again next summer. Took us about 4.5 hours. We didn't get to do the extra portion at the top because the wind and rain was far too strong. Highly recommend!
