Sara M reviewed Heather Lake Trail

I went on the 4th of July. I lucked out with parking. Judging by the amount of cars, I considered not going but was able to get a parking spot at the trailhead. Based on the amount of cars, I was pleasantly surprised to not really meet up with too many people for the about the first mile. The rocks weren't as bad as the roots as people have mentioned. I wouldn't take little kids but I saw plenty trekking without a problem. I had a dog and encountered about 18 others throughout the day. All but one were on leashes. The mud greets you near the top. I'd say the last half mile. The worst part were the bugs at the top. I didn't notice them once I crossed the wood planked walkway. definitely be prepared. Beautiful, relatively easy hike. I'd defi do it again.

I went about two weeks ago. I started around 3 and was back by 6. It took me about an hour and a half to get to the top. I ran periodically on the way down and made it right at an hour. it was chilly and foggy once I started down. It was beautiful and worth the sore legs on the way up.

I went this past Sunday. it rained all day Saturday so the waterfalls were fantastic. The river was high and as equally wonderful. The trail was very went in places and incredibly muddy the further you went. I ended up doing seven miles roundtrip instead of eight. Can't wait to do it again! be prepared to go under trees and go over a few.
The road to the trail is pretty awful. be prepared to go slow. The potholes will swallow everything (small children, cars, etc). Don't let that discourage you.

As those have already stated, the trail head is a mile and a half from the visitor's center where you start when snowshoeing. It wasn't overly crowded. Stunning views on a beautiful day. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

The drive from Port Angeles was very long. The beautiful weather when we left wasn't nearly as beautiful when we got there. The hike was short and sweet. Not too difficult. the views were amazing. We can say that we have seen them but not sure I'd do it again.

I went on a beautiful fall day. The parking was full by the time I arrived at 9:30. I parked at the day pass picnic lot across the road. a little muddy in areas but beautiful. The hike felt normal, not too strenuous.
