One of the coolest experiences we've had on a hike! We did the more challenging upper cave and, while it definitely took some careful navigating and agility, it was totally worth it. We would have been in rough shape without our sturdy shoes, headlamps, and gloves (not so much for warmth, but to protect your hands as you'll be using them to steady yourself A LOT).

Great hike! The last part is definitely a bit challenging, but fine if you take your time. We had the mountain to ourselves at 7:30 AM on a Friday — just passed a few groups on our way down. My 12 year-old son wanted me to warn you all about the cobwebs this early though!

This is a doozy, but the 360 degree views on the top are worth it! We arrived at 7:30 AM on a Tuesday and had the trail to ourselves all the way up. We passed LOTS of people on the way back down though. This hike is hard work and feels further than 2.7 miles up (that’s the mileage on the trailhead sign), but slow and steady is the way to go.

Beautiful falls with a fun stop at Denny Creek water slides to cool off (be prepared for COLD water)! You’ll need a Northwest Forest Pass (or American the Beautiful pass) and it’s a busy, popular trail, so expect difficult parking and lots of people.

Nice walk, but can’t reconcile what it is with the price and admission. We met a couple on the path asking the same thing we’d been saying: “Is this it?” I’ll stick to my free hikes.

First 3/4 of the hike is under forest cover - nothing much to see. If you have a clear day, the view payoff at the end is worth it! There is a steady incline, but nothing too steep. Lots of rocks and roots. We passed horses, motor bikes, mountain bikes and other hikers - all were polite and courteous.

Breathtaking falls! Unfortunately we couldn’t see the top of the falls due to all of the fog, but it was worth the walk anyway! Lots of roots and rocks, so take your time. There’s also a log bridge with one hand rail that goes over the lower falls - it would make me nervous with small kiddos. It made me nervous with teens even! ;-)

Great hike that has trees/forest, waterfalls, and rocks...the trifecta! We chose to turn back at the falls instead of completely the loop because the trail beyond the falls began looking questionable.

Nice walk in the woods that gets your heart pumping a bit in parts. As others have mentioned, not a great view payoff at the top, but you get a little glimpse through the trees and there are a couple of benches to sit for a rest. It’s in the same area as another, much more popular trail (Mashel Falls), but this trail has almost nobody on it.

Great urban trail with some quick elevation gain. Super way to get a little outside time!

Wide, well-worn trail, but has so many rocks and roots. It’s an ankle breaker if you’re not careful! Once we passed Talapus Lake, the mud/puddles/snow increased. My sons had tennis shoes on they got a little wet and dirty, but if you have waterproof boots, you’ll barely notice it. You’ll need a recreation pass or $5 to pay on site.

Great rainy day hike! If you’re starting clockwise, jump on the Trail of Shadows on the left. Otherwise, follow the signs from the parking lot for Wonderland Trail. We went left and were happy to get the steep switchbacks done early! Super Trail with a few nice views. The leaves are just beginning to change! Beautiful!

    Pros:
    Good workout
    Close by
    Well-maintained trail

    Cons:
    Sketchy trailhead and area
Graffiti and trash along beginning of trail
Difficult to get a good foot grip on some of the dirt areas

I'd recommend hiking here with a buddy or two - we met several shady-looking guys and homeless men along the way. Also has some significant elevation gains and losses that require sure footing. The path is pretty narrow in some spots and you'd take quite a spill if you happened to slip.
