Gorgeous views abound. The hike goes along a beautiful stream for quite some time. Loved it!

The hike to Alum Cave (which is not a cave but still dope) crisscrosses the Little Pigeon River most of the way. The river is filled with beautiful boulders and small waterfalls. You can see large hemlock trees the first couple miles of the path. Hemlock seedlings grow best in the shade so large hemlock trees are a sign that a site was never logged. The path is also filled with Rosebay rhododendron bushes. They have waxy evergreen leaves and are gorgeous. I was lucky enough to see red squirrels, salamanders and a black bear. One of the best hikes of my life.

Gorgeous wooden bridges and planks along the route. Very scenic.

There's a parking lot where you first enter. If you keep driving down the dirt road it takes you to a second (closer) parking lot. It's a stone's throw to the quarry. Not a hike at all. But the quarry is gorgeous! Beautiful, clear water. Trees. Large rocks to sit on. Perfect venue for a picnic.

I went on a busy day. Lots of ppl so maybe that's why I felt totally safe. People were friendly. Everyone had a huge inflatable rubber duckie or blow up floaty of some kind. The quarry water is warm with sudden VERY DEEP drop offs. Be very careful. Ppl giving zero cares were rock climbing up the sides of the quarry then jumping in the water.

They had trash and recycling cans out (thank you for recycling!). That may have cut down on the litter others complained about. I didn't see any litter on my trip. Clean & beautiful.

The only dog-friendly trail in Zion (dogs disturb wildlife). Dogs must be leashed. Trail is paved. Bike and wheelchair accessible. Once u get past the parking lots and campground, the trail chills out and gets beautiful. It parallels the Virgin River. Very scenic. Lots of wildflowers and river access points. Watch for mule deer and bats at sunset.

In the summer private vehicles are not allowed on this road. National Park shuttle bus only. But it's all good because the shuttles run constantly, very efficient, clean, well-marked route, no reservations needed. Easy on/off. The buses have huge windows and even sun roofs so you can take in the views. Highly recommended.

I did this hike at high noon in July. The trail is not shaded but there are enough small trees on the way up that u can stop and get some relief from the sun. Once you hit the canyon section (mid-way up), the narrow canyon walls block the direct sunlight and provide an oasis full of trees, bird song and beautiful rock formations. Scenic beauty the entire way. The view from Angel's Landing should be on everyone's bucket list.
