We combined Tom's Run, Ironwood and Tanbark trails to make a 5.8 mile loop. Had a great time.

Great day hike. Took about 3 hours with a side trip to the furnace where we stopped for a half hour for lunch. My GPS said it was more like 6 miles with the side trip to the furnace. Could use more signage. There are 3 trails at the parking lot. Luckily we picked the correct one. First one you come to. At your right at the end of Dewoody road.

This is an all around great trail. Maintained well but still natural a lot of everything. Great creekside spots for lunch. Rocks for climbing. A fantastic overlook with no cell towers in the view. Some tuff climbs, but not too bad. A great day or overnight hike.

Warning. The directions take you to a private shooting club near the refuge. A couple miles south on route 27 is an information kiosk where you can find directions to the 5 trails in the refuge. One is about a mile from the kiosk. The refuge is divided into two areas. This one near Guys Mills with three loop trails (2 or thee miles each) and the other on Route 408 about 10 miles away with two point to point trails. One closest to Cambridge is a complete boardwalk that takes you to a remote spot on French Creek. The other in that area is an old trolley trail. Some day I'd love to learn more about that trolley. I assume it came from Cambridge Springs but I don't know where it would have been going.

Fantastic loop trail with all kinds of rock formations to play around on. Can combine with several trails to make a long day of hiking or take you time exploring this one. It's not recalling long, but plan enough time for rocks and the views.

Great view. If you like, you can actually see the fall from the parking lot without hiking at all. The are two wooden decks that allow you to see the falls from both above and below. For a little longer trip you can take the loop and see a little more of the gorge. The are two other trials you can hike from here as well.

Very short trail that can be used with the adjacent cross country trail or the pine grove trail across the road. Overly maintained by your federal tax dollars so you can hike without getting you'd shoes wet. You can see the remains of a depression era work project to make a toboggan run as well as the "lake" shelter and parking lot.

A very nice, quick loop. It can easily be combined with Ledges and Kendall Lake for a 7 or 8 mile hike. And those trails connect to others. Very well maintained. Almost too well.

Great trail in the middle of Pitt and CMU. You can just picture the horses and carriages on the old bridges. Great for a run in the morning.

This is a typical Rails Trail, meaning, flat and straight. Although there are some great river views and history along the trail, I wouldn't want to walk it. I'd rather walk the Sandy Creek or Allegheny River Trails that connect. Better yet, head a little north to Oil Creek State Park or Two mile state park to find more rustic trails.
