Roseann Day reviewed Spring Creek Trail

Beautiful trail, especially a few days after the rain with a strong stream in the creek. Other than a short stretch that was too steep for me to run up or down, moderate trail. Free parking on the street near trail head.

Really nice hike, lots of steep uphills with rewarding end at the lake- went on a Saturday in February and there was no one else at the lake when we got there. We did somehow take a wrong turn on the way back and ended up walking back to the trailhead via the road, so take care with directions.

Incredible!! Only did the first two miles to beach, full of gorgeous views the whole way. You can continue up to a waterfall an additional 1.8 miles from the beach. Any further along the trial and you need a permit to continue. We reached the parking lot at 830 and there was plenty of room in the farther second lot, but this fills up fast and people start parking along the road. Bathrooms at the trailhead and the beach at 2 miles. Several stream crossings but able to stay dry with balancing. Recommend hiking shoes or waterproof hiking sandals with straps, though saw plenty doing it in sneakers. Nice to get out early but also be sure to catch some views post noon on the way back, as the light changes and water turns a beautiful azure blue.

Highly recommend! Not a terrible interesting first part of the hike through the woods but well worth for the stunning views at the end. Go all the way to the top of the waterfall to get full views. It’s cool to stop at viewpoints on the way back and look back on where you were hiking in the canyon. We went after heavy rains and it was very muddy, definitely recommend hiking shoes though I saw others in sneakers. We walked down the 4x4 dirt road to start the hike but from what I can tell you could also park at Pu’u Hinahina lookout at start at the trail that exits from the left side of the parking lot.

Might have given this a five star except it was so cloudy when we did this hike so didn’t get any views at the top, also poured on the way down making the trail muddy and a bit treacherous. Definitely recommend hiking shoes in any weather given the grade. Good workout but doable for moderately fit novice hikers.

Nice spot for a short run or stroll along the coast. Free parking at the public beach access tucked in among various resorts. Mostly paved but one short section over volcanic rocks, easily navigated.

Super fun hike with amazing views of Mt Shasta and the surrounding region the whole way. Followed the dirt road to where all trails marks the start of the trail- we were in an Audi A3 E-tron and had no problems with clearance, notably no snow or ice on the road at the time. The trail is easy to follow and wraps around the butte with a steady but never steep uphill climb. There are stretches traversing rock fields and boulders so definitely recommend hiking boots and proceeding with caution- not treacherous though.

Beautiful hike with incredible views of the lake the entire way. Would definitely recommend it! Went during first week of February and the trail was snow covered but easily walkable in regular hiking boots (though notably this was after a week of no snow and 50 degree temps). Note that you have to turn off the main road and drive an additional 1+ mile to get to the actual trail head- would need all wheel drive to do this, at least during the winter. Otherwise can park in the lot right off the paved road and walk to the trail head. You have to have a Sno-Park permit to park there between November and May. This can be purchased at nearby gas stations or online and print in advance ($5 for day pass).

Love this hike! Park at the beach (free), walk back to the road and the trail starts across the road. Hike down into the canyon, with a steep ascent back out. Beautiful views overlooking the ocean on the return. Can do it in sneakers but hiking shoes best especially after rain.

This is a beautiful hike with a pretty steady and challenging climb to a stunning view. We went on a foggy morning and ended up above the clouds at the top. The last bit of the hike takes you through the giant redwoods of Armstrong Woods. Stop by the ranger station for a free map before starting. Parking is free in the first lot you reach off of the main road. Recommend hiking shoes.

We really enjoyed this hike! Free parking on a dirt road right by the trail head. There are some pretty good up hills on the loop, and nice views throughout. Can do hiking shoes but would be okay with sneakers too. Dogs welcome. Recommend checking out Marin French Cheese Co for a post hike snack after, 15 min drive away.

Great hike with beautiful views and lots of nice up and down for a moderate walk. Parking lot is $7 or plenty of street parking free. Sneakers or hiking shoes both fine for this terrain. Would be nice to come back for a trail run too.
