great spot for an easy hike with the family. it is better to park and start at grassy hollow visitor center then hike to inspiration point then back.

it was extremely hot this time of year (end of aug) especially because we are in the middle of a heat wave. We started out at 0600 thinking it was early enough to beat the heat but we were wrong. There was not a breeze to be had. We initially were going to go to inspiration point via sam merrill trail but forfeited as we turned the corner and saw the blistering heat beating down on the other side of the mountain. Hence we took our time and just explored the railroad area. be aware of the heat because there is no shade. Even at 0800 AM it was reading almost a 100 on the little thermometer

Hike starts off from the small parking lot through neighborhood streets before getting to a more traditional trail. The path towards the first fall is easy and shaded. At this time the waterfall is more of a trickle. The path to the second fall is a bit more fun and intense requiring ropes and some large rocks to traverse. The trail to the second fall isn't well paved therefore follow, unfortunately, the graffiti and trash left behind by people. The second fall trail starts off to the right of the fall through a broken metal fence. The gravel is loose and sandy so be be to sure to wear hiking shoes with lots of grip. There are lots of rocks so slipping could mean a nice little battle scar to take home. The second fall also has very little water but was still fun to climb up the moss laden walls and hang out at the top for some almost IG epic photos lol.
