This delightful hike visits 4 CCC-built shelters and features spectacular views in all directions. Virtually no elevation gain makes for an easy hike. Several segments are right at the edge of the bluffline, so caution is advised. Portions of the trail can be wet after a rain (as was the case on our recent visit). The Rim Trail connects with the Ozark Highlands Trail (trailhead w/ parking near Cabin C) and with the Shores Lake Loop Trail. The White Rock Mountain Recreation Area features 3 historic cabins and a group lodge, as well as a campground. White Rock Mountain is a special place to visit for a day hike or an overnight stay!

LOTS of great hiking trails in this beautiful park! Lake Austell Trail from visitor center to dam is delightful, and don't overlook the spur to the picnic area that features numerous bridges -- including a pair of arched bridges -- as the trail rises & falls and weaves in & out following the terrain. The Upper Loop of the Military Road Trail follows a well-preserved portion of the Trail of Tears, while the Lower Loop is probably our most favorite trail segment in the park. And be sure to check out the awesome Swinging Bridge not far down the trail from the Upper/Lower Loop junction. (Segment from Swinging Bridge back to visitor center is also a bike trail, so not nearly as enjoyable for hiking.)
