Short steep hike to the top with lots of boulder climbing. Great views of Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch.

Rick Meyer reviewed Basin Cascade Trail

We hiked the Basin-Cascade trail to where it crosses the river. Since the water was high we did not go further. 0.8 miles one way, and returned. Very scenic and photogenic with lots of cascades and lots of waterfalls. Moderate trail with lots of rocks and roots. Then we proceeded from the basin east parking lot north along the recreational trail to the campground, crossed the bridge, then returned south on the Pemi trail. easy and beautiful trails. The recreational trail would also be excellent for handicapped people. About 5 miles total distance walking boot for both trails.

Rick Meyer reviewed The Flume Trail

This would be a spectacular trail, except for the price. $16 for adults, $13 for children. Well-maintained trail with many boardwalk in areas up the flume. We traveled this just after heavy rainfall and the water through the gorge was amazing.
