Rev. McDonald reviewed Manzanita Lake Loop

A gentle easy loop around this very pleasant lake. Great views of Mount Lassen that reflect on the surface of the water. Ducks and fish and deers in abundance.

Great views and good workout. Saw deer early in the morning as we walked down the trail to the falls.

Best done early in the day when it is cooler and less people are hiking.

Totally an enjoyable hike. Took our youngest grandson (12 years of age) and he found it fun and a very easy walk. We saw a river otter in the pond swimming and a dozen turtles sun bathing on logs. Met horses along the trail and enjoyed an abundance of wildflowers. Good fir family hiking - almost anyone can make this short hike without any great efforts.

A good cardio workout without killing you. My wife and I are 72 and we met lots of fellow hikers our age and older making the hike look easy.

Lots of huge redwood trees. Truly inspiring and enjoyable!

I loved the first half mile - lots to see and an easy walk for old people and even the disabled. You can roll a wheelchair along without great effort and see plenty from the trail.

The sounds of Highway 49 could be distracting to some but we just accepted it and ignored it. The pond is truly beautiful!

Pleasant walk - lots of birds and sunshine. Beautiful views of the Sacramento River as well as luxurious homes that follow the trail.

Wonderful artwork at the end if the trail at the water intake building. Nice walk - would be nice and easy bike ride. We saw a man using a walker managing the paved trail. Totally accessible for all.

Not a bad urban adventure - easy walking and lots to see. After it rains the creeks are flowing with lots of water. You can find some small wildlife- we saw rabbits and squirrels and lots of geese, ducks and hawks.

Just a fun and interesting walk through history and old buildings. An easy walk. Good for photos. We enjoyed it and have done this walk though Old Town many times.

Not a bad walk but not a great one either. Some parts are boring but along the creeks it is more interesting.

Saw several encampments of homeless people but on the other side of the water from the trail.

Could be a great potential place to hike someday but it has turned into a large homeless encampment. Lots of trash in and around “campsites ”. Sad to see.

It makes it a dangerous place for people walking by yourself. It also takes away the peace and joy of being out in nature when your heart is breaking for all those forced to live in tents and cardboard shelters.

Will not go back to hike this trail again. This is not a good hiking trail but is okay for those on bikes.

Not much artwork was up when we did this trail. Great for bicycles but on the boring side for hikers. I think once the new trees that they planted grow taller - and when more artwork is added then it could be a better hiking experience.

Looking to do it again in five years - but not going back before then.

A good walk but not outstanding - except for a great bridge to view and walk over!!! We did this hike in the winter and it was overcast and cool.

The trails were under construction on one whole side of the lake when we went there. There will lots of birds so it was worth visiting but it needs maintenance and work.

Wonderful walk and physically very easy to do. What was hard is finding the right paths and trails - the signage lacks! However, using this app which I just downloaded this morning-made it workable

The GPS navigation kept me going down the right pathways. Totally would have been lost with consulting it from time to time.

Lots of colors from wildflowers along the trail. The American River was high from recent rains and was running very swiftly down towards Sacramento.

All in all a nice walk in nature - would do this trail again. I would have not have discovered this trail system with this app.
