Randall Hall reviewed Twin Creeks Trail

This review is only for the Twin Creeks trail and does not include the Noah "Bud" Ogle loop. My big takeaway from the trail itself was that there was alot of fire damage everywhere and was evident from the start. We started at the Gatlinburg end near the Mynatt Park and we turned around where the Twin Creeks meets up with the Noah "Bud" Ogle trail so we didn't go around the loop on this partiular day. The other issue was that there were so many gnats and bugs it made the overall experience less than ideal. My wife couldn't finish fast enough in order to get away from all of the bugs so we rushed through the trail as fast as possible. The gnats and bugs were very bad. We did see some recent bear activity but never ran across any bears. If there were any out there, they hid in and blended with the chared and black wood from the November forest fire. From the Twin Creeks trail head, its a very slow and mild uphill climb for some beginners looking for some exercise. My son didn't even realize he was constantly going up hill.

Super easy trail to walk along and very well maintained. The AllTrails app shows that the trail starts in Gatlinburg off of River Road or from the Sugarland Visitor Center. However, we drove down "Park Headquarters Road" until you wind up in the Maintenance Building's parking lot with nowhere else to go. Off to the right is a parking lot for the trailhead and there is also overflow parking behind this spot which I presume is parking for the park workers during the day. From this point from the maintenance building parking lot to the trailhead in Gatlinburg on "River Road" is 1.35 miles (2.7 round trip). We left at 8:18pm and arrived back at 9:24. it got dark pretty quick so it was our first (and unplanned) "night" hike as well. The Gatlinburg side has more people walking into the trail to a section where you can easily walk down to the creek and wade into it so there were more tourists than hikers at that end. The sound of the creek was great to listen to as you walk along it down the entire path. The other thing is that the road does too so we got to enjoy the unique sounds of Harley Davidson every now and then as well. My wife and I had a nice breeze, great temperature, creek was babbling the entire way, no bugs, and was a nice stroll, we gave it 5 stars since it was truly enjoyable and hope we can do it again.

This is more of a tourist stop than a hike. The trail is paved all the way up with 5 or 6 benches to sit on along the way. As the elevation is much higher than Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge (where we were staying for the week) - it was extremely chilly and windy so be prepared to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt for the trip up even in the middle of summer.

We wanted to arrive early to beat the crowds and before the clouds burned off from the heat of the sun.
The issue was that we ourselves were inside of a cloud 75% of the time so visibility wasn't too great for us, but a break in the clouds allowed for a decent photo every now and then.

The Scenery was the best we have seen so far.
