The drive up is quite bumpy so be prepared to take your time. When we started the trail the weather was beautiful, blue skies with a few clouds. When we got to the top, clouds had completely covered anything that would have been a view. Very unfortunate, but will be trying again on a later date.

Nice, short trail with great waterfalls at the end!! Be sure to go to both the upper and lower twin falls. The lower one is the taller one that’s straight down, the upper falls turn a few times. Once you get to the bridge to see the upper falls, keep going up a bit to see the top part of them. Very beautiful.

Awesome views of Mount St. Helens! I didn’t make it all the way up to Harry’s ridge because it started raining and the clouds covered up Mount St. Helens. I’d love to go back on a clear day and try again. I highly recommend this trail!

Honestly one of the best hikes I’ve done since moving to WA. The hike up wasn’t too bad, I did have to take some breaks but once you make it to the top it is worth it! 360° views of the surrounding mountains and an awesome view of Mount Baker. We hiked along the ridge for a bit and it was beautiful. Unfortunately we got a late start getting there so we couldn’t stay as long as we hoped to. Ended up hiking back down in the dark which wasn’t too bad using our phone flashlights. I would highly recommend this trail!

I really enjoyed this hike! I went on a day when it was raining a bit so my pup and I essentially had the trail to ourselves. The climb to the top wasn’t too bad and man was it worth it. The views were breathtaking. Even though it was cloudy and raining it was still amazing. I was not able to see Rainier because of the clouds but I plan on going back up on a clear day. The fire lookout is really cool too. You are able to go inside and sign a trail register. Lots of cliffs so please be careful! Rocks at the top can be slick in the rain.

There is no sign for the trail so be sure to use GPS to find it. I completely passed it and ended up having to backtrack about .25 miles when I started asking myself why I wasn’t gaining elevation. Once I was on the trail, it was pretty steep. It starts as a small trail through the woods, the progresses to climbing up rocks/roots like stairs. It’s a pretty short trail so it’s not too bad of a climb. At the top, the view of Mount Garfield is great! Getting back down was quite challenging as well since the trail is so steep. Some spots I had to walk down backwards to be able to keep my balance. All and all a decent trail, but I probably wouldn’t do it again.

Great hike! Switch backs for a good bit in the beginning then lots of climbing over rocks. Be sure to wear good shoes with ankle support. Great views of lake Cushman at the top and on a clear day you can see Rainier. I brought my pup along with me. Be sure to keep them on leashes, I encountered some people who let their dogs run without leashes who came up and startled us (my dog is dog aggressive and gets very nervous around unfamiliar dogs) But luckily he did alright. Just keep in mind, even if your dog is great with other dogs that’s not the case for everyone.

Nice, easy, short trail. Lots of interesting trees and a cool bridge. Be sure to take the short detour to see Big Cedar Tree. It’s no longer standing but still awesome. Don’t forget to climb in the roots for a cool pic!

Rachel Schoffstall reviewed Lake Constance Trail

We hiked to the base of the Lake Constance Trail which was about 6 miles in because of the road closure. We began making our way up the steep trail but the forest had been burned and was washed out. About .25 miles in we were unable to see the trail markers and tried to keep going but it was very difficult. Downed trees everywhere and the soil was extremely loose. We made it about .5 miles and had to turn back. I would not try this trail again until the Park Service is able to get it back into safe condition.
