This is actually several small trails that connect to form one mega trail. The smaller trails are less than a mile each. I did the archaeology and kid-friendly trails which totaled one mile; both were paved. Great views which included native grasslands, river, and lake. As a reminder- it is a felony to remove artifacts from federal and state lands!

Short trail- more like one mile if you walk the whole thing and not just along the water. Beautiful views, lots of rock scrambling, and awesome fossils! Not a good trail for kids or people with trouble walking as you do have to scramble up rocks and it can be very slippery. As a reminder- it is a felony to remove fossils or artifacts from federal and state lands!

Wonderful trail with excellent views and great rock features. The trail is actually 3.6 miles long (if you head SW to a parking area). There are many "side" trails that can confuse so make sure you follow the white diamonds! The first 0.5 mile is a steep climb but then evens out to a gentle slope up to the overlook. My dog also enjoyed this hike and running around the trail.

Right across from the visitor center for the refuge. There is parking and a bathroom at the head of the trail. Halfway through the trail is an overlook for Sally Jones Lake. I saw 3-6 nesting bald eagles, an armadillo, plus lots of other birds. There was also a lot of coyote or bobcat poop on the trail. The trail is paved and you can fish along it.

Paved trail along the Arkansas River and surrounding wetlands. I walked this in January in hopes of seeing nesting bald eagles and common loons. Didn't see any of those but I saw tons of turkey vultures and armadillos. There is a bathroom, parking, and fishing at the head of the trail.

Paved trail with body-weight exercise equipment along the trail. The trail goes through most of the park and you can see the lake, golf course, lodge, stables, and community garden. I took my dog on this trail and she also loved it but she came home with lots of ticks!
