One of my favorite hikes I’ve ever done. Short and sweet. It’s all sandstone blown from the wind so you could probably do it barefoot in some spots. I hiked the whole way in my five fingers with no problems. Breath-taking views the whole way and the lookout at the end is the perfect picnic spot. I would say it’s probably a 30 minute hike out but we stopped several times for photos.

Valley of Fire is one of my favorite state parks and it’s a must visit if you’re in Las Vegas.

Easy loop. Great trails and views. Dogs are welcome. There is no shade so bring protection. There’s some spots where the hike can be strenuous but we did the whole loop and a photo shoot in about 2.5-3 hrs. (Ha!) We we’re definitely taking our sweet time. Dogs are welcome and you must stay for the sunset against the Superstition Mountains. They are bright red for a fleeting moment. Definitely a must see. I hiked in my five fingers and had no problem.

Great trail looking over Phoenix from the south. We got a little lost at the top but got ourselves sorted out. It was about 80 that day but we did not bring enough water and it was warm at the top. The trail is maintained by the Phoenix Parks Dept. We hiked at JTNP the day before and I felt this trail was severely lacking comparatively and for that reason I only give it 4 stars. Just not as well maintained Definitely wear hiking shoes - not tennis shoes - and I would recommend poles for the first leg. Dogs are welcome.

Easy 2 hour hike to the top. Switch backs and then you curve around the mountain side only to continue up more mountain. The trail is well maintained. I think any hiker of any experience can handle this and the down part isn’t super sloped so no need for poles. When you get to the top it can be pretty chilly (we went in October) bring a jacket. Amazing views from the top. JTNP is a real treasure.

We went and camped at the bottom at Havasupai Campground over Memorial Day weekend. BEST HIKING TRIP EVER. We hiked in with 40lbs and out with about 30 lbs. It’s all of 10 miles to the camp ground. Took us about 5 hours down and 6.5 up. Hardest part out is the switchbacks at the end. The last mile is a workout. Leave camp early the day you hike out. We left around 5 am and got to the top at 11:30a which was perfect bc it started getting really warm around 10:45 or so. The trail itself is rocky. I preferred the parts that were sandy - the river rock were brutal on my ankles and calves after about 5 miles bc they kept shifting every time you step. There’s limited shade for the first 2 miles or so but we left at 9 am to go in and got to the campgrounds around 2. Overall I didn’t think it was a bad go at all. Bring lots of water and snacks for the trek and watch out for the mule caravans (Only the weak use mules). Anyway - if you can do this hike, you can hike anywhere. The trip of a life time.

To get to the trail head you have to drive about 2 miles through a field. It’s rocky/muddy so I highly recommend a vehicle that has a higher profile. (There’s cows!) I went at the beginning of August and it was great weather. The hike is easy. Just long switchbacks. Took me about 50 minutes to get to the top walking at a leisurely pace. I don’t feel like you need poles here and the trail is easy to follow. Great views of the Frisco Peaks. Lots of flies at the top. I went on a Thursday afternoon and didn’t meet a soul. Great hike!
