This hike is definitely on the harder side of moderate. It's uphill practically the whole way, but the view that awaits you at the top is worth the pain in your thighs! If the weather is really nice I recommend either an early morning (no later than 9) or early afternoon start as the roadside parking tends to fill up the closer you get to lunch.

Paul Dammon reviewed False Cape State Park / Back Bay Wildlife Refuge

Aside from the required 4 mile hike just to get through the wildlife refuge and into the park, this wasn't too shabby for a basic hike. The main "trails" are unpaved roads used by the park service vehicles and some other people who seem to have the hook up. If you are going to hike this rather than bike I recommend an early start! You can refill on water at the park visitor center as well as get a basic map of the park. I am rather intrigued by the primitive camp sites just off the ocean. I think an over-night trip may be in my future!
