If your looking for a challenging hike in under 6 miles, East Osceola is the hike for you. It boasts a steep grade that will stretch your achilles and test your determination. The trail is flanked with trees and featuress some brief viewing areas just before the top and near the peak.

Pamela Kimball reviewed Mount Tom, Mount Field, Mount Willey, and Mount Avalon Loop Trail

This was such an epic, fun hike. My gps recorded 10.6 miles for the entire loop. The first 1.3 miles was very icey and slow going with streams to cross on icey logs and rocks, but conditions got better. Better views than I thought and even the snow covered evergreens were breathtaking. Highly recommend this loop, for advanced hikers. Back to the car in 7 hours. We stopped for lunch on Willey with a fantastic view, soaked in the view on Avalon and played on Field and Tom to feed the grey jays and enjoy the views

Great fall hike. my- gps came in at 10.2 miles from the parking lot. Nice gradual hike up to the summit except the last push which makes you work for the view, but it's totally worth it. The views are spectacular with 360 degrees of viewing. Breezy at the top but we found a spot protected from the wind on the far side. The descent seemed long but I was tired. Definately worth coming back to this one.

Hancock was well traveled today being peak leaf peepers season. The trail starts out like a walk in the woods and then starts becoming gnarly with enchanted looking roots to traverse but the ascent is mild until you reach North trail. Prepare yourself for some steep climbing for about .7 miles but seems longer. This is one of the more difficult climbs I have encountered. Today the views atop North were not existent so we didn't even stop until we reached South Hancock. the path to south was easy going and the views were spectacular. We could see mt Carrigan to our left and a good portion of the mountain range. The descent down started steep but with care we moved right along.

Pamela Kimball reviewed Gorge Brook Trail to Mount Moosilauke

took gorge trail up which was a gradual grade with many rock type steps. Lots of scenic views on the way up and worth the hike. The top was windy and chilly so bring layers. The descent seemed long, but looking back it went rather quickly. It took us 3 hrs and 15 min moving time, to do the Round Trip 7.7 miles from our car. Our avg pace was 2.4 mph.

It was a pleasant hike up. The ladders and caves along the Mason were fun for the kids. I took the dog around on the alternate loop which was short and rocky. We encountered a few scrambles which were challenging for the dog, but we were able to lift her up with her harness on. Climbs were steep at times but not technical. It was on the easy side of moderate. It took us 3 hrs to do both Mason and Percival. round trip.
