Pam Benson reviewed Moat Mountain Trail

Hikes on 10/06/2017 started up South Moat from Passaconaway Rd..at first it was raining and as I made South summit it stopped...the view was spectacular...I went on to Middle Moat which is a short distance...from there I continued to North Moat...the sign to North is a little confusing but stay left...after climbing some rock walls( not hard) I came to an amazing view of the Notches...caught a rainbow over them...the only thing I didn't like was the descend down North Moat...steep all the way until you come to Lucy Brook...overall...I would do it again....great hike

what an amazing day...we went inon the Bemis Trail and the falls were spectacular..of course we had heavy rain the day before so this hike was perfect timing...on to Arethusa Falls ...it was absolutely beautiful and such a calming to be there...we then took to Frankenstein Cliff which was a spectacular view...beware if you're afraid of heights..lol...then on out to which we came to the train trussel of the Conway Scenic Railroad...it was an awe ..never thought I can say I went under it rather than over on a train....just fun....

I started out early around 8:30 am am the day was just beautiful...the hike was great ...it is steep on some parts and at the 3/4 point it is a challenge...I am not sure I would bring young ones as it is a rocky climb but it is hiking after all...definite climb to do again...maybe the next trail for Mount Washington...

I found this trail well marked and maintained. I absolutely loved it. I loved the rocky climb up to the ladder. I absolutely felt that you were stepping into wonderland. For someone who just wants a quick hike and would like to appreciate the outdoors this is perfect....

I absolutely loved this hike...though challenging it was invigorating. there is a detour. which is quite beautiful. Be sure you are prepared for any weather as we went up in on a cold morning as we knew it would be...however the sky was as blue as could be. when we reached the peak I went into the restroom came out and was in complete cloud cover...as thick as pea soup and had to rely on the cairnes to descend.....it was without a doubt the best hike ever...
