Not easy to tell when this trail stops and Lost Creek trail begins, but it's closer to 12 miles ONE WAY. I hiked this yesterday and spent 10 hours total. I hiked out 10 miles until I crossed a larger section of the creek at the end of the large meadows then turned around and hiked back. If you're day-hiking this trail it's pretty easy. If you plan to camp and carry in a 50+ lbs backpack it's fairly technical in some areas and can cause balance challenges. The meadowlands were even better than the beaver ponds as they were quite expansive with nice cool winds. You'll reach the meadowlands after crossing the continental divide - which by itself is a pretty damn good workout. Beautiful trail, lots of scenery and various sections of hiking, but start early. I got to the parking area around 9:30am on a Saturday and had to park a mile back and hike to the trailhead. I've heard if you get to the lot by 8am you'd be fine.

Not a bad little (mostly) singletrack. Plenty of turns and fast sprint options depending on the ground pack.

Dry? SUPER loose and sandy so be cautious - a tight hairpin turn comes with a fresh side of 3 - 4 solid trunks impersonating a brick wall.

Wet? Lots more grip - no more slip, but randomly distributed collections of (rehydrated) horse obstacles pose new challenges for your high-speed avoidance skills.

I'll probably wait to go back and ride loops after a good long rain. That way it's got a chance to rinse off, pack down and grip up. It would also be nice to get back before the horses have a chance re-decorate.

    Happy Riding!

Phenomenal little trail. I've ridden this a few times in the past month and its more fun each time. As long as people walking the trail aren't on the path... You can get some pretty sweet speed going at the north end of the trail and nail some lonnnnnng jumps.

Caution on the soft dirt though when landing;) If you happened to spot a dirt-covered idiot beside a GT laying face down after crash-landing (apparently hard enough to deepen the trail with the front tire, oops!)... That would be yours truly forgetting to unlock the front shock prior to take-off:) Sorry if offended anyone with what blasted out of my mouth afterwards

    Have fun!

LOVE this loop. I find it has a little bit of everything. Up hill, straight shots, winding open space area, downhill fast runs, rocky terrain, soft dirt, shallow ruts, and even a great area for technical rock climbs (very easy though)... All wrapped up in a short 2.6 mile loop! Perfect place to go grab a few loops for a quick workout. I consider this my "home trail" when I don't have the drive in me to head further out of town.
