Olivier Barthomeuf reviewed Stanford Avenue to Mission Peak

Lots of people : not so much an issue on the trail as it is large all along but definitely an issue for parking. Nice climb (average slope 10%) and technical downhills. Lots of fun !

Rather crowded but mostly cows not really in a hurry to clear the trail. Very nice run up and down under the fog. If you park at the county park please note that it only opens at 8:00 and that line can be long.

Met several runners going up or down. A little chilly - lots of shade - but nice climb with both steep sections where you need to walk and gentle slopes where you can keep on running.

High quality run : long ascend, very technical - because of slope, mud and chaotic ground left by the local cows.

Rather a moderate run and obviously better suited for cold weather (like today) than hot. Very few people too.

Chilly weather, rather populated, great run. Be prepared for long runs downhill.

Trail is closed to horses and bikes at that time of the season - that makes it a nice and quiet run ! A little slippery after yesterday's rain though. Great trail!

I agree with Elizabeth: this is rather a moderate run. Large trail, not so steep uphills. Very nice !

If you think of parking at Sanborn County Park, beware that they only open at 8:00. Except from that great trail : physical ups, easy to run flats, rocks to practice agility and technical downs. Extensively used AllTrail map and that saved me several times : thanks guys !

Very nice trail - good length and difficulty. Enough trees and easy to follow.

I rated it low because the trail pictured on the map is no longer available: fences block the access to the seashore. What you can do though is extend your run to the Bay Trail that crosses some preserved areas for bird nesting. Lots of nice bird shots !

Started at the intersection with highway 9 under the fog. Ended up at Rancho del Oso 28km away. Mostly downhills and under the shade of the trees. Very nice run.

After reaching the Reservoir the trail becomes more shaded and hilly. Few people nice run. For reference, names of the trails in the loop : Stevens Creek Tony Loop Trail, Lookout Trail, Vista Loop, Fern, Coyote Ridge then finally back to Stevens Creek Tony Loop Trail.

The loop is actually a triangle formed by 3 trails: down Saratoga Toll Road Trail - Travertine Springs Trail - up on Saratoga Gap Trail. The latter includes a portion on asphalt road. It's a little confusing so better take a map. Most of it is shaded by trees and with nice elevation changes. Very few people too. Great time !
