Extremely beautiful trail, probably moderate, switchbacks and steep sections easy to navigate for us with a 5 and 7 year old. hiked through the garden of Eden section, very nice meadow, tons of wildflowers, some aspen trees just starting to turn yellow, can't wait to go back in a few weeks when they are fully golden, lots of aspens in the garden of Eden meadow. As others have mentioned, we parked at the dirt lot at the bottom of Hondo Rd and walked the .9 mile to the top. we hiked 6 miles round trip from the car and stayed on the blue trail the whole time. did not make it to the reservoir, was not sure how to get there after the upper falls section where the trail intersects ends at the dirt road. One of my favorite hikes in the area.

very beautiful hike, we paired it with the pancake rocks for a 7 Mike day hike with 3 kids. this is certainly worth the hike!

One thing to note, this distance is from the Crags, not from the trailhead. We ventured out with three kids and did not make it to the summit, the 5 year old (hikes often) was too tired to continue. we made it to the boulder field at just over 7 miles and turned around. would love to try it again without the kids. we did 14.5 miles round trip from the trailhead and still had 700 vertical feet and what looked like about 1 mile remaining to the summit. incredible beautiful views. highly recommended, but certainly a difficult trail

Very fun trail, it's rated moderate, probably accurate. lots of rocks in the trail. We took the directions from this app, as mentioned Forest Service road 379 only accessible with high clearance 4wd vehicles, we parked near the roads entrance and hiked up the road. I used endomondo so did the SO, and it registered about 9 miles round trip from the start of FS379. We did hike about a quarter mile past the trailhead on accident, it's not marked and easy to miss. You will hike past a trail making for 626, a little further up the road there will be an open field of to the right with a wire fence, there is a small opening in the fence we completely missed the opening at first. when you go through the opening you will hike across the field on a pair of tire tracks until you see two white posts with no remaining markings. Nearly all of the signs to this point have been destroyed by shotgun. once you get to the white posts turn right and follow the trail until you reach a post for trail 672, that goes up to the summit. was a wonderful hike, challenging for the kids 5, 8, and 11. only thing that was disappointing is the amount on litter and garbage all over FS road 379, I'm surprised people can be in such a beautiful national forest and have such little respect. also past a few former campsites completely littered with broken glass bottles. disappointing...

Challenging uphill trail, first 2.5 miles were switchbacks and fairly steep uphill, last mile through meadows with what could be spectacular views of pikes peak if they were not obstructed by trees. lots of wildflowers, stop and climb some of the rocks of the sides of the trail. We had 3 children who hike with us regularly, Age 5, 7, and 11. This was the most difficult hike we have taken them on, they all enjoyed it, but we're exhausted on the way back. encountered very few people on the trail even though it was 4th of July, drive past red rocks open space and parking was full out to the road by 8:30 am. Very rewarding hike, bring plenty of water. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the end of the trail is an underwhelming trail sign where it intersects Barr trail, no amazing view or geological formations, but overall was a great hike. According to my tracker was 7.3 miles out and back to parking area, 2k ft elevation gain, i burned 2200 calories.
