This is as good as it gets. Waterfalls, flowers, lakes, dramatic landscapes! Just awesome. We had 6.5 hours of moving time and 8 hours total up and back. The trail got very challenging about a mile away from Mirror Lake due to fallen trees and some snow (totally passable though) that confused us. We added an extra mile on our hike because we got off trail. Total miles was 15.6. Wear mosquito repellent!

Loved this hike. It's a grind getting up to the falls - 1,500 elevation gain in 2.5 miles - but worth it. Aspens paint the trails, wildflowers throughout, granite rocks, fields of green, waterfalls, butterflies - it's like a Disney movie! Get there early because many people enjoy this trail - many! And don't park at the park - we got a ticket - didn't notice the sign that said No Trail parking!

I didn’t like this trail and give it 3 stars because of the scenic lake at the end otherwise I’d give it 2 stars. Lots of dead fallen trees (because of the bark beetle) that blocked the trail. Not terribly scenic until the end where you’ll arrive at the alpine lake which is pretty. Very rocky trail too. Drive all the way to the end and park at the trailhead. A regular car might struggle because the dirt road is bumpy with potholes but doable I think. Ok trail- wouldn’t do it again.

This was harder than we thought it would be. We wore micro spikes most of the hike. Quite icy. Lots of tree coverage. It’s a steady climb the whole way but it really got tough once we passed the tree line. It was hard to see the trail due to snow. We saw lots of moose poop but no moose; but they were close. It’s a beautiful hike. We will do it again.

This trail was spectacular. We parked at the Brainard lot because the road was closed. Three miles to the trailhead, but pretty and easy. Once we hit the trailhead we slapped on our snowshoes and were on our way. Nobody other than a cross country skier was out there. The trail wasn’t overly difficult but we felt the hills. We’re doing it again end of March. Beautiful trail for snowshoeing.

Awesome hike. The way up is almost as enjoyable as the view at the top. Slick in many places. We started by 9 and didn’t see too many people. We also did Horsethief and checked out the frozen waterfall. A great day.
