The parking lot for the easier potter pass trail is about 5 miles up Kaiser pass road, it will be the first paved parking lot with bathrooms. The Potter Pass Trailhead is on the other side of Kaiser Pass Rd and you immediately start a steady climb of about 1,100 ft for about 2 miles until you get to Potter Pass where you get spectacular views of the high mountain range north and a quant meadow just below you. This is a good place to take a nice break and soak it all in. At the beginning heading down from Potter Pass it is somewhat steep but just watch your footing and you'll be fine. Once you get to the bottom the trail takes you north and then bends west towards Lower Twin Lake, this whole stretch is about 1.5 miles. We left the trailhead at about 6:30 am and got to Lower Twin around 8:00 am and started fishing. The west side of this lake drops deeper faster on the west side of the lake which usually results in better fishing. We caught rainbows 8-14 inch on kastmasters and panther martins. After a couple hours we headed NW a couple hundred yds to Upper Twin Lake. After checking out the limestone outlet cave on the NE side of the lake we started fishing again at the north side of the lake on same lures and caught a few brookies and a couple rainbows 7-11 inches. The fishing was a little slower here, though it was closer to midday. After a couple hrs there we headed up to George Lake planning on checking out the caves. The caves are maybe .25 miles up the George Lake trail and were really cool. We poked our heads in and it was awesome but we saw animal droppings and didn't want to test anything that might reside in there but I have heard the caves goes all the way through to an exit! The trail to George Lake heads west uphill on the north side of the caves which we didn't know at the time so started heading EEW and didn't find the trail until about .25 miles before George Lake so we pretty much trailblazed the whole way which wasn't fun. The hike from Upper Twin to George Lake is about 1.5 miles and accending about 500 ft. Not the easiest of hikes but much worth it when you see the two granite peaks separated by a nice saddle towering over George Lake and Kaiser Peak visible over in the west corner. We hike around the Lake and only found one crummy campsite on the SW corner of the lake so we set up a camp on flat open ground with a grove and trees around you NE side of the lake. We fished that evening on panther martins and caught a few rainbows each ranging from 6-12 inches. We camped one night and headed home. I highly recommend this trip to everyone. Best fishing is May-June and Sept-Oct...Good Luck!

Anxious to get back to this place. The 13 miles before the trailhead is slow but we had no problems at all with a 2003 Rav4. We saw sedans at the trail head but I'm sure they scraped a few times. We took the trail to Mystery Lake at the fork being that we came to this place to catch the variety of trout. Mystery lake is only about 2 miles from the trailhead and there's about a quarter mile of switchbacks right before you get to the lake. We had no luck at Mystery Lake after a couple hours so we continued on to Swede Lake where we set up camp on the SE corner of the lake near the cliffs. After setting up camp we trailblazed to Rainbow Lake and had no luck there either but was a pretty lake. That evening we fished Swede and caught a few on Panther Martins and Rooster Tails. The next day we hiked to Island Lake which is right below Three Sisters and was absolutely gorgeous. We caught 2 pure bred golden trout on the same lures which is arguably the rarest fish in the world. On the way back to Swede Lake we stopped at South Lake where we caught some brookies that were beautiful! Also caught a hybrid rainbow/golden which come down the waterfall from Island Lake. The rumor is true!!!!!! Overall great trip other than it raining the whole hike back to the car! JUST DO IT :)

Easy to follow trail. Best fishing out of a natural lake I have ever fished. Native rainbows ranging from 7-13 inches. Great camp site on east side of lake.
