Morgan Murchison reviewed Enchanted Route Summit Trail

Very crowded on a Sunday... parking will reach capacity. The hike is short and can be steep, but worth it for the views. Park is very well maintained; the park staff are doing a fantastic job!

What a beautiful and well-maintained park! We loved the classic Texas Hill Country landscape. The trails were mostly a mix of sand and granite rocks, and while it wasn't very well marked, the map we were given by the friendly staff at headquarters was pretty helpful (entrance fee is $6 for each person). Our GSD loved it. Would recommend trash receptacles for dog poop and camping litter, but other than that, it was exactly what we had hoped! The grasshoppers and prickly pears are out in full force right now, along with a bunch of campers, kayakers, and people swimming/picnicking. Really had a lovely time today!

My expectations for the quality of Temple/Belton parks and trails is pretty low, so this trail exceeded them. It offers some nice scenic views by the dam, a decently marked trail (the informational signs are all too faded to read), lots of options for accessing the water, and falls that are actually flowing (a rarity in the Texas summer). However, there are definitely some sketchy characters that hang around the area, so I wouldn't go alone. Watch your back and bring protection. Also, the falls themselves get crowded and people aren't the most polite about sharing the space. Expect dogs to be off-leash and dog poop all over the trail (no poop bags or trash receptacles and people just aren't responsible dog owners).

Super underwhelming during summer when the falls are dry and the water is almost stagnant. That doesn't stop people from coming (it was pretty crowded today), but I wouldn't venture out and pay the $6 admission just to picnic with a view. The trails aren't marked clearly and the map we were given is a little misleading.

This is more a park for those wanting to bike or kayak or fish, but it's well-maintained and very family-friendly. Very nice area and pretty scenery.

Nice views of the lake with hardly any challenging ups or downs. VERY rocky terrain so wear good durable shoes and watch your step. Probably not a great trail for small kids. The overlooks are beautiful but aren't fenced at all. Considerable boat noise. Moderately trafficked. We almost got to the falls today, but the last part of the trail was almost completely overgrown with really tall grass that we didn't feel comfortable wading through. Kind of unfortunate as we were really looking forward to it. Dog friendly for the most part, but no poop receptacles. The small stream was no obstacle at this time of year and was barely running. Overall, we'd probably do this trail again. It's free to hike and the people at the gate are very friendly. A map at the trail head would be helpful, as would trail markers.

Not challenging, but definitely worth a visit for the unique environment. Love this place. Took our GSD and let her wade around in some of the more shallow, slower-flow areas of the river. Bring lots of water. Can get a little bit crowded depending on time of day and year.

Many beautiful views and the trail is very scenic. I liked the informational signs and the general upkeep of the trail. Went a few months ago with my GSD and had a pretty bad rattlesnake scare, so definitely keep an eye on and off the trail and especially on what are usually tree roots crossing the path.

Can be a little steep and rocky depending on which path you take, but it has great views! Combination of paved and gravel trails. My GSD handled it pretty well

LOVE this park/trail. Ran this all the time last spring. Paved trail for the most part, very scenic, dog friendly. Deer are everywhere. Watch for the occasional snake. Huge kudos to the people who maintain this place. Dog parks are the best around as well :)

The trail is well-maintained and accessible to anyone. It's dog-friendly and there are a ton of deer visible pretty much all the time. Just watch out for snakes on and off the trail. I've seen them myself and have heard multiple others report sightings as well.
