I started on the south side of the lake, went around the back, then turned left and went quite a ways up the canyon. It was beautiful. I didn't make it to Lake Mildred, but probably got at least three quarters of the way there. The trail pretty much follows Convict Creek the whole way. I'd like to come back and make it to one of the lakes.

Great trail! I took it to Agnew Lake and enjoyed the water and great views along the way. It's quite a climb up, but I thought it was worth it once I reached the lakes. There's not much shade so come prepared for that. Yes there was horse poop, but it wasn't too bad. There are tracks for a little rail car on the trail to Agnew Lake. I didn't think it was still operational and hiked them instead of the trail for a short while near the top. BEWARE! It's still in operation and I was surprised by the car as it came down. Fun hike.

I've done this trail a few times. It's pretty much full uphill, but the waterfall halfway up and the lake at the top make it worth it. Iv’e always gone in the summer months and that lake sure feels good when you make it there.

I started between Gull and Silver lakes. There is parking at the trailhead. You have to watch for the signs and the road takes you a short distance through the woods to the trailhead.
