Came in at Bliss state park. Crowded on a week day. Had to park above the check in area. Joined the trail near the lighthouse trail entrance heading to Emerald Bay to swim. It's a nice trail, mostly dirt, sand. Up and down with beautiful views and great places to stop and swim before you get to the main Emerald Bay beach area. Just under 4 miles to main beach. Lots of the trail is shaded which was nice on our hot day. Very popular and crowded places. Parking is tough on weekdays and much worse weekends. Beach is nice, beautiful water but crowded with boats. Had bee issues and it made it almost impossible to eat anything on the beach. This hike and beach has always been a family favorite. There is a small bathroom in the beach area and one at Bliss before we hiked.

Our family of all ages does this hike every year. It's beautiful. We picnic and swim in the upper lake. Can water taxi in and/or out which is great for bringing in coolers etc. You can rent kayaks, has a small store/ deli with ice cream! The kids love it at the end of the day. Closes at 5pm. Water taxi closed at 4:30. I recommend a hiking stick for unsteady people, a lot of uneven surfaces. Usually crowded. Bathrooms at the beginning of the trail. Must have your personal Kayak inspected ahead of time to bring it in Echo Lake.

We mainly did this trail to go to the lake. The road in is 1 lane and hard to find... first attempt lead us to fallen leaf lake. Parking tough, had to wait for people to leave. It's a nice hike in, easy for all ages, beautiful walk. The first lake was nice, has cabins. Didn't notice swimming there but the next lake shortly after it, has a beach area with picnic tables and a lemonade type stand. Can rent boats. There's cliff diving off some rocky areas across the lake from the beach. Though we watched paramedics come twice in a couple hours from people injured. The lake is great for swimming. This visit picnicking was bad because of bees. Couldn't eat with out being swarmed. Crowded place on a week day. Wouldn't want to be there on a weekend.
