loved this trail! Use caution for bears. We saw a grizzle only 20 feet from the trail about 3 miles in. So beautiful and the payoff? Amazing! You better believe I took a drink from this magical lake.

We went Saturday mid-afternoon and because this hike was only 4 miles out & back and was rated as easy - we took the dog.
We usually hike the Wasatch front (Big/Little Cottonwood Canyons) or National Parks - where doggies aren't aloud. So we took the pooch to try and get her out. She loved the payoff at the falls and river, she loved all of the kids and the other half a dozen or so dogs at the river. She almost ran out of steam on the journey back, but she made it!
It was pretty average traffic for a Saturday. Lots of families, children and babies in packs. Thankfully no runners or bikes were up there today, too crowded for that.
I think my pups poop bag was the only on the trail... off the side, which we (of course) packed back out on our return trip. Everyone was friendly and extremely respectful.
If you're looking for a mellow hike that is perfect for your out of shape pooch (or just getting into hiking yourself), have kids 5+yrs they can do this hike themselves without packing them. Gradual up and downs both out and back - not strenuous, pretty easy - but will get your heart rate up.
Hoping to find more hikes like this for the doggie. I recommend it, and so does Bristol (our 7.5yr old) female dog.

Did this in late fall 2014, beautiful. Looking forward to a spring hike here with the wild flowers and possible wildlife.
