Michael Gonzales reviewed Little Si Trail

This is a good first hike of the season. It’s steep from the start, then it’s flat for a while, then it’s steep at the end. Got a good workout without getting too sore the next day.

Ps, it’s definitely around 4.2 miles instead of 3.6.

Such an awesome hike/scramble. I thought the ropes to climb up looked sketch at first, but ultimately gave in and used them. I'm a pretty big guy so if they can hold me securely, you will be fine. I had this bee that kept following me near the first peak, On that last big scramble that had the thicker ropes. Was pretty irritating that said bee was trying to kill me.

I don't recommend doing this hike if you don't have any scrambling experience at all, as there are plenty of it. I'd say this can be a pretty dangerous hike if you're not in shape and don't hike often. Just take your time and enjoy the views. Also, bring a lot of water.

Beautiful hike. Was a bit harder than I anticipated , but still intermediate all in all. The 10 ish mile road to the trailhead is a pain in the butt to drive.

I'll start with, I'm a 300 pound dude. Wife and I have been doing a lot of "moderate" hikes. Decided to try out lake serene. In my humble opinion, it was pretty dang hard. Excellent workout. It's pretty easy until you start your ascent up then never ending switch back like trail. This part is the hard part for a few reasons. First, it's super rocky. If you're not wearing decent hiking boots, your feet will eventually hurt. I was wearing hiking boots and at the end it still did a number. Also, I don't recommend wearing just any running shoes, due to these rock. It's pretty do able going up; coming back down, it's extremely easy to roll your ankle. Seen it happen several times.
    Second, it's pretty dang inclined.

It's a hard hike with a good payoff. Though the lake was semi frozen(basically had a thin layer of snow on it), the entire landscape was beautiful, with mount index in the background. We had lunch while resting at the lake. Highly recommend this hike, and if my big self can do it, you all can too.

Also forgot to add, come early. I wasn't able to go head there from Seattle until 10. The 2 was backed up outside of sultan on the way there, due to re paving of the road. So we got there around 1250. Parking lot was completely full, with excess cars parked outside of the trailhead parking lot. We got extremely lucky and caught someone leaving. And don't forget your pass.

Was my second time doing this hike and it was just as beautiful as the first. I have gone to this hike once a few months ago at 1PM and my second time on 5/13/17 at 2:30PM. Have been able to find parking both times in the parking lot. It was 99% full both times though and got lucky, so I do suggest getting there earlier. I like to go off the trail a few times to the water and sit on the rocks. Have noticed a mouse or two. Also, I slipped this last time while walking on those rocks in the river and got pretty soaked(still managed to finish the hike), so keep that in mind;they're pretty slippery. Discovery pass is required.

Relatively easy hike with hardly noticeable elevation gain. Literally anyone can do this hike. The waterfall is amazing though.

Road is closed so you can add an extra 4 miles round trip on top of the trails 2 mile roundtrip. With the road closed, it starts off as pavement, and then you'll reach a snow mound that you climb over. It's like the gates to narnia; From there on it's snow. It's pretty compact but I can see it being very slushy eventually. Once you get to the trail head, it's even more snow. It gets slippery at time and near the end is kind of sketchy. I advise against wearing just regular running shoes. Wear hiking shoes/boots(at least until the snow melts). People were slipping all over the place. Also, if you're like me and use apple maps, don't go to the recommended address that this and wta has. Take exit 47 Denny way, asahel Curtis road. Then go on nfd road 5800. Save yourself some time and use this advice. In the summer, I'm sure it's a lot more accessible.

Went today, road to the trail head was closed to be driven on. So that's an extra 4 miles you can add both ways. Was my first time there so I'm wondering if that road is usually open to be driven on?

Hiked today (04/01/17). Road to the parking lot is gravel and has plenty of potholes. hike wasn't too strenuous; did wallace falls last week and found that a lot more harder than this one. Made it up to the top of the stairs which I'm assuming isn't much further to the falls. couldn't go any further due to too much slippery hard snow. Should've worn spikes or yak tracks.
