Meredith Pierce reviewed Sky Pond via Glacier Gorge Trail

We clocked over 10 miles round trip but this is a great hike. Good stops along the way like the waterfall and views abound above tree line. The final scramble is fun, definitely doable if you take it slow and have good boots. I did get wet climbing the waterfall but it felt nice. The pond and surrounding peaks are beautiful and a great reward for the climb! Probably our favorite RMNP day hike.

Nice hike if you’re spending time on the West side of the park, relatively easy trail that’s a consistent uphill. Lovely views at the top. Not super crowded even in August.

Easy romp through the woods to a lovely falls. Good if you’re passing through St. Mary and the boat ride was fun but there are better hikes in Glacier. Not much shade because the forest is still recovering from a fire so bring hat and sunscreen. Relatively crowded and they offer ranger-led hikes, but that didn’t keep the bears away!

Beautiful setting on Going To The Sun Road. Get to Logan Pass before 8AM in July/August or you will not get a parking spot! Crowded on the boardwalks but tapers off as you head down to the lake. Lots of mountain goats and bighorn sheep and postcard-worthy views. Wildflowers, too. I needed a fleece and a beanie in August, it’s cold because of the elevation.

Best hike I’ve ever done. Took the first boat of the day and just walked back to Many Glacier to avoid waiting for another boat. Quick climb at the beginning, then you’re surrounded with stunning views as you make your way to the glacier. Amazing payoff at the end. Good opportunity for wildlife and we spotted a bear from a distance. Trail is relatively easy and there were a good amount of people. Just amazingly beautiful and the glacier at the end took my breath away. Bring lots of water and sunscreen, it’s exposed. If you do one hike in Glacier, make it this one.

Simply stunning payoff and a relatively easy hike through beautiful cedars. Get there early to secure parking. There’s a pit toilet at the end and a ranger was there to give info. Don’t forget bear spray.

My favorite hike in North Georgia, especially in the fall with all the leaves changing. It’s tough and steep but anyone can do it with breaks. Summit is relatively big with 360 views and a cool shelter. Perfect day along the AT.

The hike itself is easy and the views are stunning especially in fall. However the forest service trail up took a long time and was a bit harrowing at sections. I would have rather hiked longer and avoided that. Won’t be back.

Straight up but goes quick. Very developed but the views are worth the trip.

Favorite hike in Chattanooga. Fun trail; great views at the top on the rocks. Wasn’t too crowded and leaves are beautiful in November.

Nice, short, family-friendly hike. Easy parking and lots of people. We hammocked near the summit and enjoyed a lazy afternoon.

Great, relatively easy hike. Really crowded on the weekends with lots of dogs and kids and parking is sparse. Plenty of places to play in the water and falls and at the end there’s a bit of a scramble up to see the main falls in the rocks. Take the gravel road at the parking lot to find some amazing primitive campsites.

Nice little North Atlanta hike. The trail is well-maintained and the views are great from the top. Indian Seats are cool. Not too crowded but we started early.
