Started to the right and glad we did. it was much steeper and rockier than the other side. It was challenging hike up for sure! Better to get that out of way. That side was not well marked but the path was clearly evident so we never doubted where to go. The falls were pretty but a little underwhelming. couple of little bridge brook crossings and a cool stone fireplace made this a nice hike.

This is my favorite type of hike. Rocky scramble, huge boulders and trees. Started counterclockwise on charleys loop(yellow), followed forest road trail (orange and blue) and chasm trail (blue). Chasm trail was the best with huge rocks to climb in under on and through. there's a trail but so many neat options on it! First trails were boring but the chasm more than made up for it! FYI - parking fee $5 for MA resident, $10 out of state.

Nice. easy side of moderate. would have been a little bored but we took the gold trail for a rockier path and better views. the old pavilion was really neat and enjoyed climbing on the jette at the beach. a little humid and 79 degress.

We did the blue to red trails with side track to a cave and quartz pit. Trail had pretty pond views and a couple of small brook crossings. I enjoyed it because it was pretty rocky with big flat rocks to walk on in places. Very well marked trails. No real breathtaking views but a nice short hike. Easy side of moderate.

Still closed. Was hoping it would be open because of last review but it was not! Nice ride though!

We are new to hiking but this is my favorite hike yet (and we hiked Shenandoah last year). It's off season so there was literally not one other person on the trail. It was still icy in places but melted enough to get around it. The trail features 2 covered bridges, a huge waterfall, frozen falls, the gorge, the rushing Pemigewassett River, a 40 ft deep pool, giant boulders, awesome lookout over the river and gorge, fascinating trees growing around rocks. the temperature change near the river was significant and felt so refreshing! A little steep and challenging in spots but I would say the easy side of moderate. For me, the perfect hike!

Sarah Hettel's review summed up this hike. Gorgeous falls, tough on the way back but totally worth it!
