Took the Beaver Pond Trail. Great educational hike for the kids. Then stop off at the main building and look at the exhibits inside,

I forgot to add. The total loop of the hike that we did was 3.85 miles.

Moderate trail. We started at Blackrock State Park and headed towards Leathermans cave by crossing Bidwell Hill Rd. We took the blue trail around and over the top of the caves and then down around the entrance to the cave, eventually picking up the yellow blue trail. There were some rocks that were climbed and caves to crawl through. My friend had her 25 lb toddler in a backpack and was able to do the hike without too many issues.

I hiked around the lake first, then went up the left side. Plenty of steep areas, but I am glad I went up the left side. The views were beautiful. Coming down on the right side of the mountain was tricky without hiking poles, but being very careful going down the trail made it doable. I'm definitely bringing poles next time. I used a big stick this time around.

I love this hike. There are so many things to see right off the trail like the waterfalls, fire tower, beaver marsh, etc.

There are a lot of rocky areas to the tower, but the view at the top makes it all worth it. Definitely need the right footwear or you will twist or sprain and ankle.

Easy trail. About 1/4 of it is quite a steep incline. Kids did it with me though and they loved it. Beautiful views from the tower.

The first time I went here I took the main trail. It was during the summer and the place was parked. There were hardly any places left. I took the main trail, which was quite steep during the first part of it. After seeing an elderly couple with their canes, hiking up, It inspired me to get up the mountain without taking a break. There were lots of benches on the way up and I see exactly why. Once you get to the top of the main trail, you take a left to head to the tower. There was no sign telling me this, I had to ask someone for directions. The scenic views were breathtaking. Well worth the hike for what you will see.

I hiked this area with a friend who wore a baby on her backpack. We actually started here and cut across the metacomet, to Hueblein tower, then came back and walked around the other side of the reservoir. It was a nice hike.

I have done this hike with a friend, who had a baby in a backpack. We ended up hiking over 4 miles. The only reason I gave it 4 starts and not 5, is the trails aren't always clearly marked and you almost feel as if you are lost. Now that I have done the trail once, it should make the next time easier. The views are beautiful once you get higher up.

I have taken the younger kids(Ages 6 to 10) and they really enjoyed it. They did have to stop and take a break a couple times, but for an avid hiker, it's a nice easy trail with some scenic views.
