Perfect ascent/distance for May heat. I started around 10 am, and was alone most of the hike. I guess upper 80's is too hot for most? Only complaint was the flying insects. They swarmed me the entire time, making for an annoying buzzing sound and swallow hazard. Not sure if bug spray would help.

It's a great workout if you know what you are getting into. Good views. Shade on West side of mountains in the morning. Up and down multiple sets of "stairs." Fairly strenuous for a casual stroll, but if you want to get your heart rate up and sustained you can climb the ups and run the downs. Heavily trafficked, so just prepare to see a lot of other people and not get solitude.

Nice formation at the destination. I haven't been working out much lately, and I had trouble keeping any sort of pace on the way up. Talking 45 minute miles. Lots of stopping and waiting for the heart rate to slow down. Descent was pleasurable. As mention before The first mile is pretty steep, but it doesn't completely end there. There are a few more steep areas, and a couple of rock scrambles at the end. Other than that, nothing too technical. Proper tread on shoes is a must as it's just as steep going down, with some harsh drop offs. Don't want to start sliding. I think it took us about 2.5 hours round trip.

Beautiful views all the way around. Fun, rolling twists for great biking or walk/running. Nothing strenuous but the distance and possibly the elements. No shade but the mountain does offer some relief late in the day. Lots of wildflowers in spring. Many rabbits and occasionally other furry creatures. Actual mileage was 5.8 per my Garmin and time to finish was 1:45 walking flats/ minor ascents and jogging descents. Very pleasant. I only saw one other set of hikers and a few bikers. Yield to bikers.

Beautiful views and rock features with a nice stream to start. I climbed in March and made it about 0.5 mile past the bluff. I have a healthy fear of falling and one ledge was solid ice. Even with the metal rope hold it was too much for me. The path was icy after and I only had on trail runners, no spikes, so I called it quits. I saw a lot of young people hiking in regular sneakers. I’d highly advise against this and recommend spikes for cold months. Also carry lighting in case you don’t make it back before dark. If there are icicles at the bluff do NOT stop under them. They will fall and the large ones have the capability to seriously injure people. Looking up isn’t safer. Just put your head down and run under the bluff.

Beautiful views around every turn. Challenging in June sun, but cooler than lower elevation.

One of the best hikes in Texas. Just enough difficulty, beautiful country, perfectly maintained. Great primitive camping near the end of the loop between canyons with a canoe spot if you can tote it all in.

This place is a must see in Hill Country. Do not miss this. Go in cooler weather, early spring is perfect. The waterfall/pool is breathtaking. There is a second trail to the Pedernales river that is 0.8 miles and is perfectly rocky and rooty for kids. The scenery is stellar. Loved it!

If you are into caverns, this one is pretty standard. It has a few nice features. It takes 1.5 hours to tour the cavern, and tours tend to end around 4p.m. It's worth a view if you've never seen it. Not a workout.

Flat, piney woods. Would be good for running if you just need a break from concrete, but it's short. There are restrooms and picnic tables available. It's interesting to see the trees sway in the wind.
