This trail is beautiful. We got there at 5:30 on Sunday and the parking lot was already full but the road and parking lot next to the trailhead was empty. Very good first 14er, everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The trail is rather steep but plenty of groups were stopping to take breaks often. You’ll meet a lot of different people on this hike and will definitely make friends.
The final stretch has a scramble to get to the summit and it was a welcome break from the steady incline before. The trial itself is a little bit wet and you’ll have to cross through a stream so waterproof boots and good socks are a must! Poles are really helpful coming down the trail as it is very steep and rocky. Amazing hike 10/10 would recommend.

Loved this hike very pretty views. I don’t know if I would rate this as hard. Aside from the very end this trail is really laid back. Bring lots of bug spray there are mosquitoes everywhere, especially around the loch.
Word of caution. There is construction on the road leading up to bear lake and it is an absolute nightmare. One lane traffic with an escort car, 45-60 min of waiting at the worst. My group wound up waiting for the shuttle for an hour and a half just to get back to our car. Construction starts at 7 so be at the trail head before then.
