Loved this hike!! The views at the top are incredible! We were slightly intimidated since so many people were starting so early....we started at 7:30 and made it to the summit in about 2.5 hours but we hike faster than some. It’s a pretty slow-going hike for the last 1.5 miles so just expect to go slow cause you have to watch your footing and it gets pretty busy. Bring plenty of water and wear good hiking shoes. We got back to the bottom just after noon and we’re glad we did because we heard thunder as we got to the parking lot. We saw two mountain goats on the trail which was probably the best part of the hike!

Awesome hike! Worth it to go all the way to the upper Mohawk lake. We had trouble finding the trail near the end but people on the trail were very helpful!

Incredible and unique hike that is a MUST when visiting Zion. Start early. Check the visitor center the day before you do this hike to check the weather and probability of flash floods, as the trail closes if there are storms. But if you are already in the Narrows and there is a flash flood warning issued there is no alert and you don’t want to get trapped in the narrows because there is no where to go. This hike is extremely busy but it does not take away from the incredible hike! The further you go the less busy it gets. We wore hiking shoes with good ankle support and we were glad we did. My best advice is to rent or bring a hiking pole!! The hiking pole will save you from falling into the water from all the rocks hiding under the water. The pole also allows you to go a little faster and be less timid. There were lots of people that rented shoes and hiking poles from outfitters in town.

Very busy hike but worth it for the views at the end. It is pretty tough terrain and a very steep climb. We made it to the top in about 1 hour 45 mins with very little stopping. Bring plenty of water and wear good hiking shoes. The last half mile or so is very flat which is a nice change from the steep climbs the rest of the hike. Start early to avoid the steep climbs in the heat.

A nice shorter hike from the visitor center. We did this in the afternoon after doing a long hike in the morning. The views at the end are great of the main portion of Zion. Very little shade, bring plenty of water. The short loop at the end is worth doing for the views!

The road getting to the trailhead is about 26 miles of washboard, gravel, sand and decent sized rocks. If you have a vehicle built for these conditions you can make it there pretty quick but we took our time to spare the wear and tear on our vehicle and it took us about 2 hours to get to the trailhead (from the paved road). When making the turnoff from the road to the trailhead most vehicles can make it to the first parking lot (about 1 mile) but the last mile plan on walking in cause the ruts in the road are very large.

As for the trail. The first portion of the trail is descending down into coyote canyon. From Here you will see about a 10 foot wall with some handholds, this will get you in to peek a boo gulch. From here you can take your time exploring the gulch. It gets pretty narrow towards the end. The gulch widens and ascends back up.

You then are above the ground for a while as you follow the cairns to spooky gulch.

Spooky gulch is much narrower than peekaboo and you are a lot further down. We were in this gulch around 5 PM and there was not a ton of light. Our saving grace was these reviews that stated about when you get to the obstruction of the trail by the rockslide. We found the opening on the left side. My husband went down first, then we used a rope to drop our bags down, then he helped me through. There is about a 9 foot drop down onto a flat and stable rock. At this point there is no turning back. The gulch gets EXTREMELY narrow and you have to carry your backpack for most of it. Just keep going because there is an end the the gulch eventually widens. The footing is not flat through the very narrow portion. You then follow the dried up riverbed back to coyote canyon.

I highly recommend downloading an offline map, that saved us from getting lost from peekaboo to spooky gulch. (We used the app maps.me). Thanks to the offline map keeping us on the trail took us about 3 hours including the 1 mile walk in from the first parking lot.

Bring lots of water!! This would be a difficult/scary hike to do alone!

Megan Schroeder reviewed Devils Garden Loop Trail with 7 Arches

Amazing hike! It was fun to see each of the unique arches and we finished the hike with the Primitive trail. Definitely start early and bring plenty of water (more than you would think). We didn’t find the side trail to the Dark Angel worth it with the heat. The primitive trail is a very unique trail climbing up and around large rocks, it kept us on our toes looking for the cairns.

Tougher hike than we expected. It was super windy when we hiked it and when we got to the arch we felt like we were going to blow over. This hike is an absolute MUST when visiting Arches NP!

Great hike that gives a full tour of the state park and the canyon below. Definitely do one or two of the overlooks. Didn’t see anyone else on the trail. No shade, bring water!

Amazing views the entire hike! This trail is a lot less crowded than some of the other trails in the park. There is lots of climbing and lots of sun so bring plenty of water. The hike took us about 4-5 hours with some stopping.

We started this loop with Wall Street which was awesome but was kind of ruined by all the crowds. This is a very heavily trafficked hike. We added on the Peekaboo loop extension. Amazing views with a pretty good climb at the end. Bring plenty of water as there is not much shade.

Megan Schroeder reviewed Peekaboo Loop Trail

Great extension of the Queens/Navajo loop! The loop is 3 miles and is shared with horses so there was quite a bit of horse poop on the trail so there was lots of looking down so you didn’t step in it. The view of the windows was awesome! Bring plenty of water. Overall not tons of climbing. There is a bathroom halfway through the loop.

Awesome views throughout the hike! I would rate this as a more moderate hike, it may be short but there are a couple spots that get a little dicey. Wear good footwear as there are lots of rocks and some steep climbing. We saw a herd of 10 big horned sheep on the hike which was so cool! The viewpoint at the end is incredible!! Definitely do this hike if you are looking for a place to stretch your legs as you drive through the park!

Views were okay. Pretty easy hike, decently flat but pretty rocky. Cool to see a different part of Zion. Took about 3.5-4 hours.
