Fun trail. Canyons, open desert, washes. All the desert hiking you could ask for!

Matt Dunn reviewed Momyer Creek Trail to Dobbs Cabin

Starts off fairly easy for the first half mile, then gains elevation very quickly for the next 2.5 miles. After that, the trail flattens out then drops into Alger Creek. Water is flowing nicely at Alger Creek and is a good place to take a break. Then you head onto Dobbs which has a small climb out of Alger Creek. As you continue for 2 more miles the trail has gradual ups and downs. Just before Dobbs, the trail gains another 600-800 feet and you will hit the Saxton Camp fork. Continue on down to Dobbs from here. You will drop about 600feet in elevation from this point. Dobbs is very green and has a lot of water flowing. I would highly recommend this hike.

Nice fun trail. Crowds weren't too bad. Very shady, then starts opening up towards the top. You gain most of your elevation at the beginning of the trail. Nice view of the San Gorgonio wilderness from the top. My GPS calculated the trail to be a little over 7 miles.

Nice little trail. Very crowded at the beginning, but once you get past the falls, the crowds drops off drastically. A lot of running water at Spruce Grove this time of year. Very shaded. Good place to do an overnight. Camp fires are permitted and there are also stoves at select spots. Pit toilets are pretty bad. I would rather dig a cat hole than use one anyways like regular backpacking.
