Mike Dougherty reviewed Seven Bridges Trail

This is a beautiful hike. The trailhead is about a mile from the parking lot on the right and is marked as 622. Above the last bridge, there’s a lot of loose gravel/rocks that can get a bit sketchy at times. The trail shifts to 622A, which will take you to the Apens. After the Aspens, you will come to a trail junction. To the far right you will see an unmarked trail that will take you to the top of Keneo. This hike is all up, but definitely worth it. Took us about 2 hours up and about and 1:15 to get down. We took lots of picture.

Over the last few days we have hiked practically all of these trails. They are well maintained and offer great views. They range from little or no elevation gain to very steep slopes. There is a good bit of bike traffic, but all riders were very considerate

Picked up the El Nogal trailhead just outside Taos. This trail extends about 20 miles, and has other connectors. You can do a loop by combining the 166 trail. It can be picked up from 164 at mile number 1 at the bottom or at mile 3.5 at a higher level. If you complete the loop is about 10.3 miles total. This trail has about 2000 ft of elevation gain to get to the 166 connector at the top. It’s a steady up. A few great viewing points along the way. Enjoy!

This trail can be a bit of a grind. If you go clean clockwise it’s about 5 miles to your first view of the gorge. If you are looking for a little shorter, go counterclockwise and you can enjoy the gorge views after about 3 miles or so. You need a bunch of water if the suns out.

Hiked this last week. Perfect hike for a sunny day as altitude and shade were in abundance. We extended the hike north on the Windsor trail to make it a total of 8.5 miles. Would do this one again.

This a a great hike with lots of up. As folks have noted trail can be hard to follow at times after the turnoff to Nambe Lake trail 400. It took us about 4 hours including about 20 minutes at the lake. There was still ice on the stream which made for some cool pics.

We hiked the loop as shown but extended at the top as well as across the road at the bottom to add about 4+ additional miles. Shade was intermittent as we started at 11am and the sun was straight overhead. Bring lots of water. There is one overlook that had a great view of the mountains along with a sign board to identify the peaks. Would do again if in the area.

This was a great trail with plenty of up! The views from the top are worth it. The trail numbers switch from 174 to 170 as you reach the power lines. We took the harder route up and the easier down. There was an offshoot trail that takes you up to a lookout on the easy side. Take lots of water.

Made this awesome hike with my wife and daughter last week for out 36th Anniversary. Impossible to describe! We did the hike in 3 days and spent two nights at Phantom Ranch. Be sure to see Ribbon Falls it is worth the extra distance.

Not much to see. Couple of good shots of the surrounding mountains but otherwise just a lot of scrub pine. Lots of offshoot trails, so you need to keep watch of the trail numbers.
