We hiked from the Barrier Lake parking lot up to the lookout and back down without doing the loop in 3.5hrs. The trail is extremely icy for the last 1km so I highly recommend cleats and hiking poles. There is a second lookout you can climb to but due to wind and the amount of ice was not accessible for us. Overall this is a great hike and I highly recommend for a quick short day trip. It gives you incredible views at the top that do not disappoint! I would rate it on the easy side of moderate and would say it's one of my favourites for sure!

Ha Ling is a great hike but definitely a challenging one. I completed it in the middle of April as a sunrise hike and it was great! It's very steep and was still covered in snow most of the way so I highly recommend good shoes/poles. Take lots of water and snacks because it is a workout! I would highly recommend as a sunrise hike as the view of Calgary and Canmore is incredible from the top. It's about a 4hr round trip in winter without cleats or poles (and stopping to enjoy the view). Highly recommend sunrise but make sure to be prepared and go with an experienced hiker.

This is a great little trail perfect for photos and fresh air. The trail runs around the lake so there is no incline and is great for a quick jog or run with the dog! We went in November and there was not a soul out there so it was very peaceful! Wasn't planning to hike so we ended up walking around the lake in uggs and were fine. A little muddy by the cabins but after 2hrs it was worth the walk! Definitely recommend even just for the view.

This is a beautiful trail! I went when the larches were all changing colours for fall and it was stunning. It's a short easy trek up to the lake and then the elephant rocks are just a few 100m away. You can keep going past the rocks to the 3 lakes which gets a little more challenging but is very worth it. Round trip to the first lake was about 4hr with stopping to climb the rocks and eat lunch. I would rate this as an easy-moderate hike definitely good for kids and dogs.

I do this hike every year as a quick break! 2hr round trip max. Not difficult at all as the incline has lots of resting spots and viewpoints. Gives a great view of Canmore and has beautiful lakes to sit at by the top. There is also lots of rock climbing at the top. Good for kids and dogs. Best to go in September to beat crowds.

Obviously incredibly beautiful scenery. The large downside is that it is way too overcrowded to even walk at your own pace. There were line ups to take photos in front of viewpoints on the trails! After the upper falls the crowds thin out and the trail gets a little bumpy. A few ups and downs but not too difficult before you hit the ink pods. Nice views of the mountains and stream at the pods. Go early for parking and be on the lookout for bears!

Great quick hike! It took us 3.5hr round trip and that's including a lunch break. It was pretty busy so go early to get parking. It's a steady incline (nothing too steep) the whole trail and at the end a small scramble to see the Victoria Glacier. Lots of great photo opportunities and beautiful view of Lake Louise from up top. It's very windy and brisk at the top so bring a wind breaker and gloves. Lots of people with dogs and kids so it's good for everyone.

This was a great day hike. It took us 8hr to complete (round trip) however we did stop a few times. The start is difficult with switch backs and little shade from the heat. You get a great view of Moraine Lake once you get to the end of the switches! Once you make it its pretty flat for the rest of the trail. There is no tree covering for about 3/4 of the path so come prepared. At the end there is a scramble to get to the top and it's hard to see the path but if you follow the inukshuks you will make it. The top gives you views onto both valleys (AB and BC) so it's worth the trip! I recommend going really early as there is next to no parking at Moraine Lake. Group restrictions of min. 4 are in place because of bear activity so plan ahead!
